The problem with the optimizer is that if the game gives you too low framerates with the distance slider in the bottom the optimizer won't help you.

    But it could be worse...
    Does anyone here remember Daggerfall?
It took them 8 months to patch up all the bugs.

Not really related to Parhelia at all here, but a quick Morrowind gameplay questions.

Has anyone found NPC's who buy skooma/moon sugar? If so, what city are they in and what are their names? Even one or two names would be good for me as I'm stuck with a crapload of this stuff and it's worth too much for me at this point in the game to just drop it....

Another question: Has anyone located an awesome smithy who specializes in Heavy Armor? I'm walkin around with Imperial Greeves and an exquisite shirt for armor....

Last question: Can someone explain how the armor rating works in this game to me? I mean, I picked up a heavy armor pauldron with an arm. rating of 80 and it brought my overall arm. rating from 16 to 18!?!

Thanks guys. Appreciate any help on the subject.

Absolutely NOTHING to do with the P, as I said before....

Oh, btw. Rags, would you mind posting a picture of your characters stats? I'm interested in seeing what precicely you're running around with having that cool green stuff on your armor....

with the optimizer you can set view distances lower _and_ higher that the ingame controlls allows. Just uncheck the novice checkbox and go under the auto and common tabs to adjust min/max values.

Skooma and moon sugar can be sold in Balmora in both the mages guild(lowest floor, inner room) and to trader to the right of the mages guild when you are looking at the front door.

No ide about the smith, but who needs heavy armor... I use light armor with no shield and got a rating of 171 :P

The armor system works something like:
Various body pieces count for a percentage of the whole armor rating. The better your skill in the armor class the higher protection that armor type gives you. Cuirass counts for 40% while the other pieces and shield count for 10% each.

Apart from the mage guide in Balmora and Ra'Virr the trader, you can try to sell it to those trader that are Kaijit. They consider legal to use those drugs, so they will usually buy them.

Uhmm...heavy armor is the most used by the PC, pair with the Chitin armour set.
Remember in Morrowind you must "evolve". Simply start with a low armor, kill some nasties, loot, do some jobs for the guilds, and gain money.
When you have money, emprove your armour, kil nasties and so on.

Later in the game you'll be able to kill a lot of NPC with pieces of H.A. on them.

(a little trick: if you have enough money and are enough powerful, try by taunting those who -in cities- seems to wear good armours. If they attack you, you can kill them and take their armour. You can taunt an imperial guard, for example... )

Last question: Can someone explain how the armor rating works in this game to me? I mean, I picked up a heavy armor pauldron with an arm. rating of 80 and it brought my overall arm. rating from 16 to 18!?!
The armor rating is a mix between the part you wear and your abilities in that kind of armour. Unless you have the same score in all the three armor types, you should only wear armor that are of the kind of your highest score.

Lol...I think he has done the same as me: taunted an orc in notrememberwichcity, killed him and took the armour. A splendid orcish medium armour quite full set

a nice trick is to collect the various bound armor spells and create constant enchantment items(grand soul gem with ascending sleeper og golden saint soul) with them. Weight = 0, and repair never costs more than 1gp :P Armor class is 80, so it's a good deal when you are low level and not so strong you can haul lotsa heavy armor or don't have high armor skill ratings... Or you want to be able to carry more loot and get RICH !!!

                  1. The game engine renders from back to front instead of the normal front to back, and that means rendering then _all_ objects every time, even those that are totally invisible to the player.
                  2. Water is there always. Even dry land sits on top of water, and because of 1. it altso gets rendered.

So... A massive resource hog of a game that doesn't scale very well on highend systems. You can go from 800 to 1600 without virtually any fps hit.
