How can SOF2 run above 640*480 with the benchmarks I have seen? Has anyone played sof2 on a parhelia, how would surround gaming work, which such a demanding game?

very easily. granted, i have not done it personally, so i have no idea what level of performance it offers, but i think that i speak for everyone when i say take the flamebait elsewhere."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make? Nah... it just seems an aweful lot like troll material to me...
dunno... it is suprising how no one has mentioned any surround gaming numbers yet..."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make? They finally put a god damned shell back in." -jwz

No, just wondering how it plays on the parhelia......just a question. Since SOF2 running a Dual P4 or Dual AMD system with GF4Ti 1280*1024 is tough a patchy at best, and just wonderin how it does on the parhelia.Fenrir(AVA)

Overt sensitivity?

I hope the regulars in this forum realize that because of the Parhelia a lot of people are going to come here looking for information and answers to questions they have which probably would not be happening at all if Parhelia was not seen as a compelling product.
This of course is nothing but a positive for Matrox.
Years ago I used nothing but Matrox products. But with the coming of 3D and my subsequent fondness for it I moved away from Matrox, like a number of other people, toward companies manufacturing products that were more congruent with what I was looking for in terms of 3D efficacy and performance.
I know what good and what high-quality products Matrox is capable of, and I am very interested in Parhelia. This may from time to time result in my asking questions and seeking simple, straightforward answers, because there are things I need to know before I can ever consider purchasing one.
I'd hate to think that my questions might be taken as flamebait because they certainly aren't. I'd hate to think that people who could answer my questions won't because they are worried about making statements about Matrox products which they suspect might be negatively construed by somebody, somewhere.
Guys/Gals/Its.......this is not the way to help Matrox along, if indeed that's what you want to do. If people hungry for information relative to Parhelia visit here and sense a secretive, overly protective sensitivity, and a reluctance to delve into areas where it might be weak, or might be less than stellar, this is going to do little other than cool their interest in the product substantially.
For instance, I've got a post out in the main directory concerning anisotropic filtering. It's a very important question to me. Will I get answers from those who could provide them, or will I be ignored because the questions I ask are uncomfortable?
If I thought I was going to be ignored I wouldn't have bothered with the post, so I have a lot higher regard for everyone here than that. And this forum is the place to be for information on Matrox products, as far as I'm concerned.
I'd very much like to think that anyone would be welcomed here who asks sincere questions about Matrox products, and that people who currently are using Parhelias who frequent these forums (and there seem to be several of them) would attempt to answer those kinds of questions honestly and sincerely.
I think you know what I mean. If someone asks about a particular piece of software and how well that might run on Parhelia, it sounds stilted and insincere to say, all in the same sentence practically (paraphrased): "It runs very well of course, although I've never actually run that piece of software, so why don't you take your flamebait somewhere else as everyone here would like?"
Basically, that kind of response sounds like you know it doesn't run well and you simply don't want to talk about it. I don't think that's what you meant of course. But that's a possible interpretation of your reponse. Far better if you had said: "I have no idea how it runs. Why do you ask?" or something along those lines. Instead, the poor fellow's question remains unanswered and he's a bit taken aback by your response, although he certainly took it well.
I have questions relative to Parhelia, too. I very much hope they'll be answered here by people generous enough with their time to do so, people who know the answers. That helps everybody I think, and there are no down sides to it that I can see.
Well, thanks for hearing me out, and please don't think this is an attempt to "dress you down" or anything of the kind--because it's not. But I'm starting to get a bit worried that folks here may not be willing to talk to me, either.I'm uh....C, Walt C.

Yes, it is a problem that all of us (even I, who works to help people understand problems in my day to day job) have from time to time. especially online, where it is way too easy to take sentences out of context, and assume, just because the words are english, that they speak it as a native tongue or are familiar with the same terms and ideas. it is way too easy to judge, assume, and prove how much of an ****ole you can be.
This is one of the reasons why i rarely post things like that... rereading the original post (especially with the clarification added in) i feel like a total ****ole for doing that.
Although i will not delete my post earlier (as i do not believe in removing what i have said, no matter how much of an ****ole i have been - it often serves as a reminderto myself, and in this case hopefully others), i shall attempt to correct the problem and offer a solution...
