  • GTA3? Does it work well on the Parhliea?

    Hi all!

I just wonderd if any of the BBs would be able to comment (or other owners of the Parhelia) about GTA3.

Does it work well on the Parhelia?

    Thanks!

Of course, Parhelia plays awful in Grand Theft Auto 3.

    apearently not.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

I saw that, but figured I should ask just incase it was an isolated problem...

GTA3 plays just fine on a Parhelia, smooth sailing here, I don't know what that guy's issue was, but my experience is the exact opposite.

GTA 3 is a coding disaster i believe... it runs shitty on every hardware i've seen. Sure was nice to play though.

GTA3 isn't the poorest coding job I've seen by any means, but it's certainly not great. I had to ignore the techs over @ Matrox and set my AGP aperture down to 16 or 32 MB (have .5G ram...) to get it to run right. It's smooth now at 640x480x16 on my G400 + dual PIII-1.0 rig. It's sorta playable at 800x600x16 or 640x480x32. I'm looking forward to getting a "P" so I can turn the res up a bit.
I've heard mucking around with the radio station settings can help as well since sometimes it chops on CD accesses. I haven't noticed this though & haven't played with it, so you'll have to dig around for more info.
Along with the performance issues, they also do a crappy job with thier screen code. It won't run in a window, and if I have my second head up I can drag the mouse right out of the game and onto my other desktop. Click on screen 2 and the game minimizes. Not exactly tolerable unless you play with a gamepad & don't use the mouse. At least I think it'd be ok w/ a gamepad. I don't have one to try.

Superb graphics needs powerful system. I wish I had 3 monitors & Parhelia to run this game. Still waiting for opinions on Parhelia + GTA3.

FYI that only affected R8500 Owners.
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

Got my Parhelia today and GTA3 runs awesome on it. 1024x768x32 and runs smooth. Also I put up my view distance quite a bit, had FAAx16 on and my system is only a p3-850 with 384mb of ram. So it doesn't require a super fast system to run that smoothly. Just a PARHELIA! Now if only I could get Neverwinter Nights to work!

Is it playable in 1600x1200? I mean if I want to use 3 monitors for surround gaming will the game run smooth?
