It will work on 3 screens but it doesn't support Surround Gaming, since the car will be stretched accross 2 screens. Unless someone know how to adjust the FOV or the zoom,

Ok I got my Parhliea in and I'm having problems with the FPS slowing down after awhile. Anyone else running into this? I've read other people with Radeons and Geforces having the same problem.

Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

          My scenario was the following:
On the first start, the game ran like a dream! 1024x768x32, everything maxed, it ran always playable. Then I exited and started the game again, it wasn't that fast anymore, though I haven't changed something on my system.
Now after several starts I had to get down to 640x480x16, minimum details, and the game is almost playable
          That is with an Athlon 1GHz, 448 MB PC-100 RAM and a V5 5500.

And I heard that I am not the only one who experienced that happening
          Specs:
          MSI 745 Ultra :: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ :: 1024 MB PC-266 DDR-RAM :: HIS Radeon 9700 (Catalyst 3.1) :: Creative Soundblaster Live! 1024 :: Pioneer DVD-106S :: Western Digital WD800BB :: IBM IC35L040AVVN07

I don't know anything about this game but it sounds like it might be eating memory. Check your memory stats before and after each launch.

New poster here, still anxiously awaiting my Parhelia. July 15 indeed .

All the problems you're talking about are definitely GTA3 problems -- I bought the game the day it came out (like an idiot), and spent hours on forums and message boards trying to figure out why it ran like a dog on both my P4 and XP 1800+. Both machines have Geforces in 'em (a 2 and a 3) which I can't wait to get rid of, and the problem did seem to get worse with time, at points dropping to less than 1 fps.

I had to do a lot of digging, but I found out a couple of things. The game is "optimized" for 800x600 resolution, though the use of the word "optimized" in the same post as "GTA3" warps my fragile little mind. Also, your graphics aperture size should be set to 4x in BIOS; it's probably at 64 now. Hokey, but it works -- any other setting and my game would run for a half hour max.

I love the game, and spent many a day addicted to vigilante missions and stunt bonuses. I just wish they'd have paid more attention to the code when they ported it from the PS2.

GTA3 is one of the most poorly coded games I've seen in quite some time. Er... scratch that. Car Tycoon is way worse. (2D & missing graphics... wtf?) Still, it's poorly coded. Somehow it seems that some of the best ideas are poorly written.
After mucking around quite a bit I was able to get it to run fairly well in 640x480x16 on my G400 by setting my AGP aperture to 16 or 32MB (either worked ok). I've played around with it a bit on the P. It runs well in 1152x864 on my dual P3-1k with ansio and FAA on. 1600x1200 is smooth but a bit slow. I didn't try 1280x1024 since I hate that mode (5:4 is evil on 4:3 CRTs... I use 4:3 modes) and I haven't bothered with the registry edit for 1280x960 yet.

I ran it for pretty long on my g400 using 800*600 16bit, and it seems smooth enough. I can even raise draw distance close to the maximum. The strange this is that when I put it to 600*480 it ran worse then before! Don't really know what could be doing it but...

I must admit that the game seems badly coded. Still you can't really complain, as it's great! I guess everyone does'nt have the resources to make their game as clean as possible.

Hey GT98, I remember having that same problem when I was running the DeskShield program as part of this virus protection suite from Computer Associates. I turned off DeskShield and it got past the Rockstar logo and it was all good. If you have any new virus software or some other "monitoring" software, that might be the cause.

As for the 640x480 being slower, you're not alone there. I had to do a lot of digging, but there's a spot on the GTA3 tech support site that says the game was "optimized" for 800x600x16. Again, using "optimized" and "GTA3" in the same post seems counterproductive, but there ya have it.

                      They're lucky it's such a fun game .

Along with the performance issues, they also do a crappy job with thier screen code. It won't run in a window, and if I have my second head up I can drag the mouse right out of the game and onto my other desktop. Click on screen 2 and the game minimizes. Not exactly tolerable unless you play with a gamepad & don't use the mouse. At least I think it'd be ok w/ a gamepad. I don't have one to try. [/B]
I have the same issue. I've found that I can just disable the 2nd monitor in Disp. Props. and it runs fine.

PS. Anyone here use the Opera web browser? It's bugging out on these forums, keeps reloading every page continuously.

I had ran into that bug with opera on a few different sites. I was running 6.02. I run Mozilla most of the time. So I haven't tested this site or the newer versions of opera out recently.
I should have bought an ATI.

I use Mozilla as well, never really cared for Opera, but then again last I tried it was at version 4.x or something like that. Anyhow, that's off topic. I haven't had any problems AT ALL with GTA3 on my Parhelia or my Radeon 64 VIVO. Well, I had one problem, but I had to defrag my drive (it was 48% fragmented!) and that solved the slow/fast/slow/fast problem I had.
Only other problem I ever had was when I tried to use it on my TV. It would just lock up after showing the intro screen (where it starts to load and has a fat mafia guy on it). Or if I have DVDMax enabled, it plays the beginning video on my TV, but the rest on my monitor.

In a perfect world... spammers would get caught, go to jail, and share a cell with many men who have enlarged their penises, taken Viagra and are looking for a new relationship.
