Opera - I'm going to do a bit of digging, see if its just this site or other vBulletin sites. I'm using Opera 6.04 FYI. MUCH better than v4. If you haven't tried it in awhile, its worth testing it.

GTA3 - I just got the full version ($35 @ BestBuy) and its quite crappy on my G400 Max. I haven't tested it with the card clocked yet. It's playable, after 30 minutes of tweaking.

I set the AGP size to 32, still have to try 128. 16 MB just corrupted my display once I booted in.

Like many of you, I've had better results running at 800x600 than 640x480. I get anywhere from 7 to 50-ish FPS during game play, as measured by 3DAnalyse. I'm using that prog to help speed the game up a bit.

    System spec:
    Tbird 1333, Abit KT7A-Raid, 512MB Crucial, Seagate & IBM drives, ViewSonic 19", Optiquest 21", Matrox G400Max DH

Hans2- right click with your mouse in a window check "reload every". I´ve got swedish language in my opera, "reload every" is a guess. It could be that it set to reload every 5 seconds.
I hope this solve your problem.

        I have an P4 2.0 GHz with 512MB SDRAM.
        WinXP and DX9 Beta.
Geforce 3 Ti500 64MB (soon to be replaced with Retail P)

I'm running my GTA in 1152x864x32 with max graphics.
I do also have Vsync and Framerate limiter on.
My game is running on 25-30 fps and feels very smooth.
If I disable the limiter the game runs like crap.
I do get 45fps but it stutters.

I hope that it will still run good on my P.

People, let's open another thread for the Opera issue, please - I'd like to contribute to it, but I don't want to continue fragmenting this thread

I'll open a new thread in General Hardware/Software now

There's an Opera in my macbook.

Hmmm...GTA3 has stuttering sound when I play. I'm sure it's not the big P's fault, though-it's probably Creative's. Then again, serves me right for installing the driver's that came with the card (Audigy OEM) (which didn't mention XP and appeared to pre-date XP's release) on my XP system. That's probably the problem. So why am I posting here? Heh.

6 stars as in the number of police chasing you? It's easy to get it if you start blowing up cop cars & helicopters with rockets.

The FBI & then the Army comes after you. It's great. Their AI isn't clever enough to realize they can't drive a tank down a narrow alleyway, so they just drive into buildings and stay there. Their rifles will kill you in about 2 seconds.

                  or just type morepoliceplease

Ive never been able to shoot down a chopper...I try to keep away from them. I usually hide out in the carpark and draw the FBI cars in but it doesnt result in another star...

You need the rocket launcher to bring them down. And a bit of patience, and a clear overhead. I usually hang out underneath an overhang for a bit, then run out and see if they're trying to hit me. Sometimes I take a hit or two.

also the level of stars depends on your progress in the game. the first island will not allow more than 4 stars for example.

Yes, GTA3 is a good game but its 3D-engine really sucks.
I am not using the fastest possible system (AMD Thunderbird running at 1456 MHz, 512 MB, Matrox G400 MAX but with Max Payne I saw what my computer can do (oh boy it MP was smooth!).
