Hey, I found out what the Adrenilin capsules are for.
Here is a cut from Planet Unreal:
Epic designer\coder Warren Marshall made some posts over at PlanetCrap explaining a little bit about UT2003's special move system:
The special moves are based on adrenaline. You pick up adrenaline from the pickups in the map or from killing opponents (double kills, multi kills, etc). When you get '100' adrenaline points, you can activate a combo (aka special move). The combos can give you speed, extra damage, invisibility, etc. They expire after a short time and then you have to gather more adrenaline to do another one. You can choose which one you want with a combination of tapping your movement keys (that's how it is right now ... I doubt it will change, but you never know) ... combos are 4 keystrokes long and not hard to do at all.
The double jumping is always available and is very useful in firefights. You jump and then at the top of the jump, hit it again. Good for reaching higher spots in the level as well as avoiding rockets and such.
And another post, replying to a complaint about combos being 4 keystrokes long:
Because the combos are special moves. You don't have to use them to win, so if you don't wanna learn the -4- key tab combo to activate them ... don't. It's like special moves in fighting games ... people who don't expend a little effort to learn the moves will fall behind those that do. It's no more unfair to newbies than the translocator ... those that use it run circles around those who don't.
Honestly, they only last a short time and it isn't like you become a god ... you just get a little extra boost in the area of your choice. If you suck without them, you'll suck with them.
And one more quote:
I really believe that UT2003 is going to be THE platform to see new mods take off. I really can't talk specifics, but the toolset we're including in the box is incredible. There's really no other word for it. The engine and the content pipeline will NOT be what holds you back from creating the game/mod you want.

Now that I replied to Beezer's post about the new video he linked, I wish I'd read this thread first. Guess it's time to experiment after picking up those capsules.. (I think I've succeeded in getting the speed boost, but not anything I did intentionally :P)"..so much for subtlety.."

I don't think they have it enabled in the 927 build. I looked through the bindings in the .ini file and didn't seeing anything that would indicate the use of the adrenaline. My rig: P4 3.0GHz; Asus P4C800E; 1GB DDR 3200; AIW Radeon 9800 Pro; WD 120GB SATA; Plextor DVD burner; Liteon DVD reader; Audigy 2ZS; Logitech Z560 4.1; NEC FE991SB

I haven't dug into the ini files, but I have noticed the word 'SPEED' displayed on screen at times after collecting lots of those capsules (I never really paid enough attention to how many I had collected), and I seemed to be able to move a bit faster than normal at that point. The word gradually faded out the longer I played, until it had entirely disappeared. If I died, it was gone. (DOH. )"..so much for subtlety.."
