This reminds me of the days of the Atari ST and Amiga. Where the same game on the different platforms all had different things built into the game. Like Shadow of the Beast, it rocked on the Amiga, but sucked monkey nuts on the ST, the reason being is the difference in the video controller. OpenGL was created as a standard and it should stay standardized. Oh well, I can whine and complain all I want but it won't help. What we need is to run amok at nVidia and still their code. :-) Then sell it to the martians! Pardon the silliness, I just saw Goldmember :-) It was hilarious. And since I should go back on topic, Thanks ROM for looking into this for us, I've seen some screenshots of the shiny water and it looks amazing!

      Thanks for the answers!
I find it a shame that it is a nVidia only feature, there are also many ATI users out there and also a raising number of Parhelia users, I hope that Bioware is working on some patch for it.

But what about 16xFAA? I still wasn't able to find out how to activate it. In the in-game settings I can't select it, and it seems like it disables FAA though it is forced by the drivers
      Specs:
      MSI 745 Ultra :: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ :: 1024 MB PC-266 DDR-RAM :: HIS Radeon 9700 (Catalyst 3.1) :: Creative Soundblaster Live! 1024 :: Pioneer DVD-106S :: Western Digital WD800BB :: IBM IC35L040AVVN07

Looked like FAAx16 was on to me. I'll try to take a screenshot of it later on today and see if it is.

This is with FAAx16 forced through the drivers

With it off in Powerdesk. These were both taken in 1024x768, with 1billion color turned on and Trilinear filtering. My FPS sucked, but it was still playable. Goes to show that FPS doesn't mean anything.

Edit: Apparently it didnt' show my FPS, it was only 13 fps. I used this program to take them.

I doesn´t looks like 16xfaa works in those shots, i can see alot of jaggies.

BTW, a friendly reminder: picture compression is a good thing, your post was about 5mb big, and it takes quite a while to load it, im sure they can be compreesed without loosing too much quality.

however, in this case I can understand why a high image quality is requried, but still...

Sorry about that, I threw them onto my webserver and with 1.5mbps downloads on my DSL I wouldn't notice anyhow. I can compress 'em for people, I do agree though that it looks like you're right. It's not on. I even tried the settings inside the game itself NO AA was working. I tried every setting, I switched it to 800x600 so that I could definitely tell there was no AA at all on ANYTHING. Something wrong with the game or the drivers?

The option in the game would not work. I tried the Nice 4x sampling AA and the normal 4x sampling AA. They both looked the same, lots of jagginess. I can post screenshots of that too if you'd like. And I converted the Bitmaps to jpegs for those with slower download speeds.

well, if they don´t work then there is not much point in posting them
I certainly hope this will be adressed in a future patch/driver.

That's the thoughts I had on it too. No point in posting if they don't work. Well at least the game itself works. Oddly I think it worked before the new drivers fixed the problems with NWN (if that makes sense :-) ) It'd load before the new drivers, just not on the larger levels. And on those smaller levels I believe FAAx16 was working fine.

                        well, let´s wait another round

but look at the bright side:
NWN is such a great game, i think it doesn´t matter that much...
You can always pump up the resolution, the Parhelia can handle that

don´t get me wrong. I am not waiting, i am playing
                        de hülben seck de ü.

Actually I'm not too concerned about FAAx16 not working, I'm more concerned about the fact that it crashes randomly to the desktop on me. But that might just be because of windows clutter. I need to do a fresh install soon, that'll probably fix most of my problems (fingers crossed) Anyone know of an 'uptime' type program for windows XP that'll tell you how long you've had it installed?

Don't count on it. I bought NWN this Saturday after the new 231 P drivers came out. I run Win2KSP2RP1 and it is a completely fresh install as of last week. NWN crashes randomly to the desktop too on my machine for every 15 minutes or so of playing time.

Currently I have to remember to save regularly, or I don't get very far in the game.

Yeah, haven't bothered with the fresh install of XP. It randomly locks and crashes. I did post the No FAA thing on Matrox.com and they are aware of the problem and are working on it. I'm wondering, should we start a betting pool on what happens first?

                              1) Parhelia drivers/NWN itself is fixed so that we can play it in windows stably.
                              2) that the Parhelia Linux driver (3D) comes out.
                              3) that NWN for linux comes out.
                              4) see number one, except for being able to play it in linux stably.
