  • Jedi Knight Performance Fix for Parhelia

Perhaps this explains why parhelia gets creamed in this benchmark. Can anyone test this?

    From Bluesnews:

Attention JK2 players with a new Matrox card, like the Parhelia.
If you are experiencing slow performance you may be able to bring the game back up to speed by allowing GL extensions.
By default, extensions are disabled for Matrox cards because the drivers for some older cards would crash otherwise.
Matrox informs me that the new Parhelia will work fine with extensions on. You can enable them from the Video menu, or by typing at the console:

    r_allowExtensions 1

Yes, it's been tested, and R0M posted this fix over in the Matrox Gaming forum a couple weeks ago.

    Works quite well.

      Benchmarks?
According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

But Wombat does that give a big boost ? I also noted that the Parhelia was a lot slower on the benchmark than the competition, even though it should do nicely ?
        I'm just curious...

Big boost? How about going from not-playable to very-playable? Does that count?

I only have the demo, not the game, but it's true there as well. I played it at 800x600x32x16FAA with everything cranked on/max except "simple" shadows, and it never slowed down once. I didn't try any higher res or anything.

Im surprised how many people thinks parhelia sucks, when it actually runs the games fine.

I think its weird that some gamers focus more on how benchmarks runs than how games runs.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

You're making the assumption that they actually play a game ???
