  • Parhelia Quake III Woes

I was running Quake III (latest point release) fine with the P on drivers up to 1.00.3 but then installed the latest drivers 1.00.4 and Quake III started bombing out back to the desktop. I removed the drivers and went back to the previous version but the problem remains

If I go back to the default install of Quake III it all works fine but I have no control over brightness so can't see a thing! If I move up to point release 1.27 the first one I have where adjusting the brightness actually works, I'm back to bombing out back to the desktop pretty quickly once I start playing.

Anyone have the same problems or any ideas?

How about using the Coloreal gamma preset for Q3 in PD? (warning, do not use it for normal windows )

I have been using that but its a pain in the arse having to set it each time I want to run Quake.

I use mine for normal windows, makes it look more pleasing to the eyes. I had the problem with Jedi Knight 2 where it wouldn't save the brightness I set it at, but that was ok, 'cause most of the game was still bright enough, there were just a few levels where it was too dark. I haven't tried Q3 forever, I'll give it a spin if I can find my disk and tell you if I have any luck.

I seriously doubt you are using the Q3 preset in normal windows. Its like an eye hurting over exposed image.

i had some problems with Q3DM9 dropping me to the desktop if i had triplehead enabled. Q3 would just quit if i tried to load that map. just played it with TH disabled and it seemed fine.

            dunno about the gamma stuff.

Hehehe.. thought so. I do too, makes stuff really look sharp when you take the time to adjust the screen nicely.
