  • Battlefield 1942 Warning!!!

This game is buggier than a Hooker in Tijuana. I boot it up and after going into the single-player campaign, it displays an incredibly MESSED UP menu. Then in game it CRAWLS. I tried it with FAA first and the text was all messed up on the menus, then I turned that off and the text was fine (my brother had the same problem on his Radeon) and so then I tested it with Gigacolor turned off, and the menus were still the same, all messed up. Anyone else have this problem?

I have the newest Parhelia drivers, and Windows XP Pro (SP1)

Yes, there is a single player campaign, but I can't even get anywhere in it because of VERY poor performance. For some reason the problem I had corrected itself, so now I can at least read the menus and such, but it is so choppy it's unbelievable. I'm playing it at 800x600x32 and it's just nasty. Everything is set to medium. I even had to set the view distance down to 75% and it still didn't help

PS. I have a 850mhz Pentium 3, is this why?

The single player campaign eats up CPU like mad. The MP is much smoother. Also, the single player is underwhelming. Don't buy the game for single player, buy it for the killer MP.
Also, the game is not buggy for me with a 9700 Pro. There were some menu problems with earlier drivers but they have been fixed with the current drivers. Maybe P is having the same kind of problems. OH! I just read you have a P3 850. That is probably your problem. The recommended CPU is 800MHz minimum.

Guess I should overclock it *laughs* I had it up to 1011ghz at one point (pre-Parhelia) but tried it again after getting the parhelia and it died during 3dmark. But now I have a much meatier PSU (400w compared to the 250w I had before) so perhaps that would give me quite the boost.

Something strange enough, it's working fine now, SP1 and all. The only thing I did was go to uninstall SP1 and it complained about having to uninstall other programs, so I said screw that and said no, so SP1 should still be installed. But BF1942 no longer has the messed up menus. And I just ran the Multi-Player and it does run a lot smoother. Though that makes a lot of sense since there's no BOTS. Doesn't this have Bots? Didn't see the option anywhere, guess I need to play with it some more, eh?
