I just tried with "2400 800 16 0" and the game ran in TH. It's just that neither the "HUD" nor the briefing screen works well in TH. They are very garbled, to the point where it's hard to read the map. Is that normal?

Well Fk me sideways on a windy day.

Any 16Bit colour TH res works, 2400x600, 3072x768, but not 32Bit, now I am completely confused, would someone like to explain all that to me!

are you running Windows XP SP1? if so then yes, it is. this has been covered in several other threads and i believe Matrox is looking into the problem already.

if you are not running SP1 i dunno what the problem would be.

              Huh,
It shouldn't make a difference if it's 16-bit or 32-bit. I don't understand why you guys are having so much difficulty, are all people with problems running XP with SP1? Let me know,

              Thanks,

                Thanks,
I have not installed SP1 yet, all other updates from windows update are installed though. My XP Pro is a fairly new installation as I got a new hard drive a month ago so every thing is nice and clean, no excess crap.

Apart from loads of games the only other software on my PC is:-

                Word 2002
                Paint Shop Pro
McAfee Anti-Virus (I did disabled this during my testing).

When I get home tonight I will do a full audit of hardware/drivers and games/software and post it back here, just in case there is some weird combination or something thats tripping this up.

Maybe the others with the same problem can do the same, just in case there is some 'common ground' in our setup's.

1920x480 is 640x480 on each screen, you wont see any TH res's in the in game menu.

Best thing to do is dump the lot, re-install (full install) then apply the patch, do NOT run apptimizer, run the game, when it gets to the menu, just exit.

edit with notepad, video.con which is in your:-

                    \Battlefield 1942\settings\profiles\custom

                    Folder, change this line:-

                    game.setGameDisplayMode 800 600 32 0

                    To this:-

                    game.setGameDisplayMode 1920 480 32 0

Save the file, start up BF1942 do NOT select a profile when the menu starts up, just hit singleplayer, nothing else, then choose a quick battle and it should load up in TH.

If that works, edit the video.con file again with this:-

                    game.setGameDisplayMode 3072 768 16 0

and see if that works, if it does, you have the same problem as me.

The key thing is to remember only press either the single player or multi player buttons when the game menu starts up.

Delete all the profiles, then quit and edit video.con again and change it to 2400 600 32 0. Then run the game again, i am still confused why people are having many problems.

Ok spent half the day today trying to reproduce your problems with and without the apptimizer and had no luck, the only difference that i was using win2k, i assume everyone who's having problems are using XP, if not speak out please. Tomorrow i'll try it on XP and hopefully will figure it out, in the meantime, the XP SP1 problems are still been looked into,
