  • Important change in 1.01 series drivers re: OGL Surround Gaming

As some of you who have been playing games in surround mode have noticed, the registry key as listed on Matrox's Surround Gaming pages is no longer doing the trick with the 1.01.xxx drivers, and your HUDs are getting streched out.

That's because the location of the registry entries has changed in the 1.01.xx drivers, and Matrox has not had a chance to update their web site with the new info yet.

    The old location was:
    \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Serv ices\MTXPARH\Device0

    The new location is:
    \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Cont rol\Video\{**see note below**}\0000

The binary value to be added remains the same:
    'OGL.TripleHead' - set to '01 00 00 00'

    NOTE: This portion of the key may vary, you will have to find where yours is. Mine was {D7ECF509-0D32-41DF-92F3-77749B249FF5}
    Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s

OK, but how do we identify which CLSID string/0000 is the one to create the entry in. I have ten of them and none contain the key regardless of binary value. I'm sure you are telling us to add the whole thing same as earlier, just mentioning that.

    Or did I misread something?

Yes, you need to find the correct string, and add the entire binary key to it.
I had to try several before I found the one that worked...

        Boy! That is just nutz.
        But it can't be random.
Could you post a copy of your 0000 folder that works so we can compare and find an identifier that will isolate the appropriate string?

Wow. Cool. Thanks. This was driving me nuts as well. Now let's see if the new patch causes RTCW to stop crashing on my machine...

            I don't even have

            \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Cont
            rol\Video\

            in my registry.

            Now What?

                  Well, I don't know then.
I am running winXP, and that's where it is located there.
It might be different in win2k.

Either way, it shouldn't be an issue for too long...Matrox is working on an app that will do this for you, avoiding the hassle of editing the registry manually...

                          Matrox released their "Apptimiser" yesterday.
You don't need to mess with the registry any more for this....it will do it for you...

                            Directly form the Apptimiser Readme:

"This application does not modify registry settings. So games that have settings
that are stored in the registry are not handled by this application at this time."
