3 CD's....damn, can't anybody either make a game fit on one CD or use DVD's? I mean the least they could do is offer both CD and DVD versions for it, switching between CD's really annoys me. Yeah, yeah, I know, it costs money, but still....this game will be a guaranteed sales succes. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I could care less that it's three CDs. My Totally Unreal set is 4. The big thing is that it's expected as early as next Friday in some stores!! (arg. Now I'm gonna be counting days like a 5 year-old during the week before Christmas. Might even have to take next Friday off just so I can go camp in front of the store.. )"..so much for subtlety.."

I'm geeked about this release too.
I'm surprised how much I am. Kinda felt FPS was stale. This has rekindled my interest.
I'm especially excited at how well it plays on my parhelia. Hopefully the full version (with increased texture detail etc.) will still perform this strong...

I'm playing the (unofficial) beta on my Parhelia, and it stutters quite a bit on high detail.
On low however it is smooth.

I'm not so sure that I'd consider the performance of the demo to be any better than the performance in the 927 leak. From my own experiences, other than some weird hitching in network play with the leak (constant hitching every few seconds), the framerates with similar settings are fairly similar between the official demo and the leak.
If it hadn't been for the hyping up of the pre-release's performance numbers by sites using it for benchmarking (obviously using the flyby modes, based on the results they posted, now that I look back), I wouldn't have expected performance to be any different than it is now. Realistically, the game performs with currently available hardware much the same way UT did with the hardware available when it hit the shelves.
That didn't keep us all from playing it and getting hooked. In fact, I'd have to say that UT was the driving force behind my upgrades (both processor AND video card) for the past 2+ years now. It's beginning to look much the same way for UT2003."..so much for subtlety.."

And for those interested at all, the linux binaries are SHIPPING with UT2003, they'll be on disk three. That just kicks ass. Hoorah for Epic, I'm going to be buying this one for sure. Of course can't play it in linux 'til Matrox releases 3d drivers, but then again I have windows for playing games in anyhow.
Linux Support
The Linux installer is included on Disc 3 of the 3 CD set! We support both client and server for Linux. Unfortunately there's no mention of Linux on the box because we didn't know it would be done in time so please tell all your Linux gaming friends that UT2003 is ready for them!Wah! Wah!

I'm playing the demo at 800x600x32, with all the features maxxed out, and I don't see any video slowdowns.
I wish they'd have a 4th disk just to tell people how to set up a damn server. This game would be fun if I could find somewhere that it's actually playable.Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
