  • 256 color problem

    Hey all.
I have a pretty annoying problem which affects some 640x480 256 color games I have.

The games I've tried are Theme Hospital and Fallout 2.
Both games experience severe palette problems, making lots of colours display wrongly.

It looks like something has randomized a bit of the palette.
Unfortunately there are not possible to make screenshots, because shots made of those games are nearly black.

I've tried with Gigacolor both on and off, single and dual, nothing makes a difference.

    I'm running WinXP+SP1 with a 128MB Parhelia and a Pentium 2.0 GHz.

The problem is even visible when going fullscreen in a VMware machine with Win98 in 256 color mode.
It makes the games nearly inplayable.

If I'd were to bug report this to Matrox, where should I send my report? The TS forum or some mail adress?

You should post it in the matrox tech forums.

Just got home now, tried setting my desktop to 256 color, single-head and it works.

Thanks for the pointer Maggi, thought that the 256 color option in compability mode was enough.
