  • Toca Pro Racer Demo

Hi, just wondering if any one else had tried it yet, one of the best surround games so far. and totally ooptimised, no squished menus or anything.. its very good

    runs well too
cant wait for the finished game

Cant help but notice matrox havent released any new drivers recently.. i mean normally every few weeks there are updates fixing minor bugs.. does the delay mean there is something big being worked into the next set? dx9 support or something??

is it me or is it quiet in here.. hello..... hello.. (echo)

It's a potentially good driving game, currently in public beta: http://lfs.racesimcentral.com/

This is what it currently looks like (DivX, ~10 megs): http://www.scawen.pwp.blueyonder.co....TY_CLASSIC.zip

I'm downloading the newest TOCA Race Driver demo right now... I've played an earlier demo, and it was pretty nice. But I heard they've destroyed it all by implementing arcade-style steering in this latest demo

POTENTIALLY GOOD?!?!?!??! Damn, you've got an amazing ability for understatment. I just downloaded the beta demo, and am in SHOCK, that's hands down the best "feeling" driving simulator I've ever seen!

Oh yeah? Well, I've played it since the first public betas came out, so I might've grown accustomed to it

Edit: Downloaded TOCA, played it, uninstalled it. What the f*ck have they done? That demo is an insult to anyone over 5 years of age! The graphics are good, the idea is good, the sound is good, but the gameplay... Doesn't exist. Okay, so it's only 80% complete, but unless the missing 20% is all gameplay & handling, I can only say this: Screw you, Codemasters. OUTRUN reminds me more of real driving than your demo does!

Edit2: Sorry to those who like the demo. It's just that I think that arcade games are for gaming consoles... I don't require 100% realistic handling, because even if that was possible, it wouldn't be any fun. But this demo so totally fails to tell you that it's a car you're driving that it reminded me of an old flying game called "Slipstream 5000".

NetKar and Racer are two freeware racing simulators that are better than most commercial racing games.

They are still early betas so they aren't perfect, but they may be something really big.
I like Racer because there alot of cars and tracks available for download here. (100 cars and 37 tracks ATM)
Race a AVS Shadow (1970) on Nürburgring Nordschleife and you have a real challange.

                  Lancia Stratos is another favorite.
