  • Parhelia Drivers from 16th of April

    Hello,
I installed the new parhelia drivers, and now in the dark age of camelot expansion, the reflecitve water is no longer reflective.
it appears as tough the bumpmap is recognized, but the bumpmap does not move at all. just these stationary blocks in the water that are at a different height than the normal water.
I have seen a similar thing happen in Eve Online as well.
The drivers from back on the 20th of december do not display this problem, and i have tried them using directx 8 and direct x 9.
Anyone here have any ideas, i wouldve posted in matrox forums, but they are closed for the weekend.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

    Thanks
    Frankfurt

    New driver problems

There seems to be multiple problems with the new drivers, including severe slowdowns in some situations, although some things are much faster.

Most noticable is that with the new drivers, AGP Fast-Writes is now disabled, with no way to turn this back on.

Also, water reflections + transparency seems to be broken in several games, where you'll now see something more like a sheet of frozen milk than water.

Command & Conquer Generals slowed down quite a bit with the new drivers -- now I can't run it at anything above 1024x768 with shadows turned off, and get a decent frame rate.

Other games show slowdowns too (using FRAPS), including Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3.

Other games run better with the new drivers, including Freelancer and NOLF2, but overall, I can't say that these drivers are a huge improvement for gamers.

The loss of AGP Fast-Writes is really unforgivable, as it DOES slow the card down.
