arent there any way to go around this...

Dual monitors are getting to be all more usual with cards as Nvidia FX and Radeon cards, so why cripple this feature???

That's what its called.

I am amazed at what I consider ignorance on the part of some of these developers. I realize that in some instances, limitations in the implementation of software technology may cause their games to operate incorrectly (missing textures, flashing, etc.). But in many cases, its just lazy ignorance.

During the PlanetSide beta, I asked if they were going to allow us to test Surround Gaming. The response I got back was that it was too complicated and time consuming to program the support into it. I was stunned as I thought it should be a simple matter of at least allowing us to select the extended driver resolutions in the options menu.

Well ... one of my fellow beta testers told me that I should just edit the machine.ini file directly. So I did. Guess what? It worked. Perfectly. No wierd warping or graphical problems. Even the FOV appeared to scale correctly.

So I wrote them back and said, hey its already working and you didn't know about it. They responded by releasing a binary update that explicitly disallowed editing the .ini file! WTF?!

But, to their defense, they have re-implemented extended resolutions into the game ... and I own it now. I haven't activated my account yet ... but when the game matures, I'll be there.

The theory that it was cheating is wrong because my scores havent been affected, just my enjoyment.

and cheating certainly hasnt been reduced any by these patches.

I'm really pissed at EA.
