  • ...Lara' butt on my P...

Well, sorry for the subject title...

Just having new Millennium P650 and planning to have upcoming Tombraider AOD for occasional game. Can I have decent 30 frames/second at 1280x1024x32 resolution?

    Please, your opinion or suggestion.

    Thanks much!

Is that game already out? I don't think so. So how should know what framerates we will get in this game?

fair enough question ... simple answer: the p650 is slow like a dog.

Not slow as a greyhound I guess...

I doubt you get more than 30fps in any new game, in any res with that board my friend.

Doubt it, unfortunately even the P128 is slow with new games, and the P650 is even slower. Don't know if it'll suppose surround gaming. Most likely no on that either, since that cool feature is also being left behind by game developers (since they usually do stuff on the newer cards with enough horsepower to run the game).

surround gaming is effectively dead ... P512 will struggle do play future games single head at reasonable framerates, won't even start with surround performance. sad but true.
apptimizer hasn't been updated in a long time as well or has it?

A new Apptimizer just came out, over 60 games now, quite a few more coming down the pipe so it is hardly dead.

I went from a GF4 TI4600 to the Parhelia 128 and I have no quoms. None of the games that I have played (IL2, Nascar 2002, RON, Pro Race Driver, UT2003, Rallisport, Quake Arena, RTCW, Morrowind, and Neverwinter Nights have been hampered by poor frame rates. Sure the FPS are not as high as the GF4 but nothing has been bad in either surround or normal mode. Aside form that nothing beats three screens for work which is really why I bought it.

                      Hello,
                      I agree with roybfr !!!!!!

So... I just thought I'd add my experience of the Parhelia....
There are, to my mind, individuals that are WHOLLY MISGUIDED as to the capabilities of the Parhelia 128.... and Surround Gaming.
My Parhelia 128 and Surround Gaming have given me nothing but JOY....

So unless my Parhelia (and system) is somehow "magically" enhanced I just can't understand how people poo poo it the way they do ...
Have they tried Surround Gaming ?...
Have they got a half decent rig to run the Parhelia with ?

                      My system :
                      P4 2.6 GHz
                      1 GB RAM
                      3 x 17" TFT's
and of course .... the amazing Parhelia 128MB Retail

I have for Surround Gaming ....
                      GP4,
                      Vietcong,
                      CFS 3,
                      all the Ghost Recon's,
                      Ballistics,
                      IL2 FB,
                      Quake 3,
                      IGI2,
                      UT 2003,
                      Unreal II,
                      Unreal Tournament 2003
                      Deus EX,
                      Splinter Cell,
                      Mafia,
                      Serious Sam SE,
Raven Shield (not true surround but good enough),
                      Line of Sight Vietnam,
                      Deadly Dosen PT,
                      Bloodrayne,
                      Motocross Madness 2,
                      Neverwinter Nights, RTCW,
                      Aliens vs. Predator 2,
                      Gore,
                      Star Trek Voyager,
                      Nascar 2003
                      and Morrowind.

They ALL play at acceptable frame rates and acceptable resolutions.
AND compared to playing on one screen they are AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH ! and Yes... I do have another system to compare games on... (my OLD system)
                      P4 2.0 GHz
                      1 GB RAM
                      1 x 17" TFT
                      Radeon 9600 PRO

Sure games play fine on this system BUT ...

                      ....................... here's the IMPORTANT bit ....

I WOULD MUCH RATHER PLAY ON THE SYSTEM WITH 3 SCREENS.
It is sooooo much more immersive and for any true gamer the more immersed you are in a game the better !

Experience is the only true enlightenment !!!

                      Cheers to Matrox !
                      Paddywak.

                      By the way ...

I am sure Lara will play just fine too.
If you take a look at ...

You will see that Tomb Raider - The Angel of Darkness has upcoming support.

                        Hi,
I now have Tomb Raider - The Angel of Darkness and as I suspected it works BRILLIANTLY on my Parhelia and in surround straight out of the box..... (at 3072 x 768 with FAA-16x)

It is a shame there's no strafing but you can't allways have everything ....

I've got some trouble with my TRAOD.
First there are the Eidos logo, and then just a black screen.
                          Alt-Tabbing to kill works.

It doesn't matter what settings I use.

Does the game take a while after the EIDOS logo to start?
