  • How can I force vsync off?

I have a Matrox G400Max and have tried MTSTU and Powerstrip (individually, not together) to try and force vsync in D3D to off, but when I run Colin McRae Rally 2 with Fraps, vsync is still enabled

Is there another way of doing it, or what am I doing wrong? Using Windows XP by the way. I've tried the 5.72 and the 5.88 (final) drivers - both the same.

Please help as CMR2 runs much better with vsync off!

You can force vsync off with the matrox powerdesk utility, it comes with all matrox drivers I think (but needs .net 1.0).

      Hi!

Matrox Parhelia needs .NET 1.0, but G400 doesn't need it.
For the VSync issue I can't say anything. It has been quite a while since I was using my G400, so I can't remember. Sorry

I dual boot with XP and ME, and I just tried going into ME to see if I could disable vsync.. but no

There's no vsync option in Display properties either.. not that I can see anyway.

Surely there must be a way.. oh well, thanks for trying to help I'll see if google has the answer..

Or anyone else got any ideas?!

Well I just read on one site that the Matrox tweak utility doesn't have any effect on vsync with WHQL drivers.. so I just tried the non-WHQL 5.82s and it still doesn't work..

Frustrating cos CMR2 runs at 50fps when I run at 800x600x32 @ 100Hz.. if CMR2 can't pull vsync fps, it cuts it in half

              Unfortunately not

Anyway I tried sticking 98 SE on in place of ME, and tried an old driver plus a registry 'tweak' I found on the web, and I got vsync turned off - much better

It'd be nice to turn it off in XP as well though!
