    Bringing this back from the dead because I have another question about serving games. When people have to download maps from me, etc, it goes incredibly slow and takes forever to download, even at LAN parties where we are all at 100Mbps full duplex (and we can share files just fine at good speeds). Is there an option either in the ini or in the game that allows people to download maps, etc faster from the server? Does it have to be a dedicated server? I have checked the in game LAN settings and it is set at the highest, I even adjusted every LAN setting I can think of in the ini file to a value even higher than the in-game setting allows. So anyone know how to speed it up?

    My second question is abou mutators. When I try to load some kind of modified weapon that I downloaded from somewhere else, whenever I host the game I can see the weapons and everything, but the other players cannot see em. Bots will have them too. And I can also kill players with the weapons even though they cannot see them. Anyone know why this is happening? If I can figure out these two things then all should be well at the next LAN party I host. Thanks for any help.

        It is possible to redirect downloads to a webserver, that is usally the best way to avoid your server getting caned by people downloading, and it is also faster for them.

        I think it is this section in UT2003.ini:
        [IpDrv.HTTPDownload]
        RedirectToURL=
        ProxyServerHost=
        ProxyServerPort=3128
        UseCompression=True

        If you have a mutator and they don't see it, it usually means it isn't installed properly on your machine.

        I think it has to have a server packages line in UT2003.ini under
        [Engine.GameEngine]

        eg:

        ServerPackages=UTClassic

          So if I shared my files over a network say when I LAN (just via a switch with other people), could I just make the path my UT2003 folder on my PC and it work that way?

            Nope - it would have to be a webserver to work that way.

            I'll see if I can find where the max download rate is capped.

              It looks like it is the same as maxclientrate (ie the bit that caps how fast players can get game data).

              Since you are on a LAN you are probably okay to boost that value in this section of UT2003.ini:
              [IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]

                Ok, thanks. I'll try it out next LAN party.
