  • Finally found the answer to Rise of Nations Lock-ups...

Hopefully this will work for all of you who have problems with the game locking up. I had to install the newest Creative Labs drivers for Windows XP (On my SBLive that is) and now it no longer locks up. Sound actually works!

WOW, you had a problem with a SoundBlaster Live? That's totally unheard of...

I've never had a problem with my SBLive... well, at least not since I kicked those crap drivers out of my system and converted to kX.

        Yes, isn't amazing?

        Converted to KX?

My SBLive doesn't like my P4PE or something, I get little chirps and stutters even in linux. I did read on a forum for Cubase Audio that people with P4PE's should put the SBLive in PCI slot 4 since the other ones are shared wth something else....

The kX Project - alternative drivers for Live-based cards. (Actually, any card which are based on the emu10kX circuits)

          Found at kxproject.spb.ru.

Thanks Zao! Is it me, or does that kind of show that a company can make some pretty killer hardware, and yet their drivers suck SO badly that someone else has to make different ones?

              Leech: It's a schoolbook example.

You should be aware of one thing with the drivers though, that is that they do not support EAX and have not got DirectSound3D acceleration.

The accelerated DS3D is scheduled for the next driver version which is coming out in about 2 weeks.

Yeah, I noticed that, so I haven't tried them yet. Actually I haven't tried them yet mainly because last night was the first time I had booted into windows from linux in over a week

                  Maybe off-topic
but even though i have installed creative's sb live driver some programs do not recognize my card, while it is listed clearly under devices.

On the other hand i have 2 copies of the drivers in my add/remove programs. Using win2k card is SBLive Value!..

Which driver version seems to be the most trouble-free?
