  • anti aliasing on matrox Parhelia card

First of all, a brilliant product!

    Matrox Parhelia 128 mb

I think i have a problem with anti aliasing with my new matrox parhelia card!
I can't choose anti aliasing in my games, it is not avaliable!
Is it because some games can't identify it on the matrox card??
What happens when i force the card to use it, will it then use it even though i cant choose it in video options menu?
I have tried it and the games run OK, but i am not sure the card uses it??

The reef demo runs smoothly, but it is diddicult for me to see the difference between anti aliasing on and off!!

Is there a program/demo i can use to test only the anti aliasing functions on my new card??
Is there any supported games where i can choose anti aliasing for

I don't believe there are any games which allow 16xFAA to be selected inside the game menus.
I've seen one game that supported it, but I can't remember which.

Forcing 16xFAA through PDesk is what I do all the time, and it works with almost all games I have except NWN in which 16xFAA is broken and with games running windowed by some reason.

From what I've seen NO AA works in NWN. I think it might work in the Linux client (which is where I have it installed now) but I think that might have been what was killing my performance too... I'll test it and get back...

I haven't tried AA in the Linux client yet.
Mostly because of the low FPS I have anyways, enabling AA would kill it.

How are your performance in Linux vs. Win32?

I get much better framerates and stability while playing NWN in Linux.
I and some friends beat the SoU campaign a few weeks ago, me on Linux, they on Win32.
        No interoperability problems at all.

I believe you turn it (16xFAA) on in PowerDesk. For me the reef demo worked great and anything else (UT2K3, Quake III) crashed the machine - until I learned over on the Matrox tech support forum that I needed to update my chipset files. It has worked perfectly since, although I usually run with it off these days in exchange for a faster framerate.
