  • ST: Elite Force II

Just bought this game last night.
Haven't gotten too far in it yet.
So far seems like a decent FPS for us trekkies. I really liked the first Elite Force, and this seems like a good follow up.
Secret areas are extremely difficult to find, but I'm compelled to find them because you can collect "golden starships" to obtain access to secret levels. This is why I haven't gotten very far yet. I have to keep turning back to search the levels I've just cleared to find the secret areas. Mostly involves using the tricorder and 'structural integrity' viewing mode to find weak walls to blow out.

Anyone else even gotten this game? I haven't tried multi-player yet, but would like to frag some MURCers if any of you are playing it...

    One question:
Has anyone gotten surround gaming to work properly with this game? I have gotten it to work somewhat, displaying across all 3 displays, but menus and text are all fubar'd. (R0M?)

I've been playing it, and so far have only found one secret. Haven't played it multi-player, nor have I tried Surround gaming (only have one monitor). It is pretty fun though. I think I'll go play it more now It gets harder than hell though! I wonder if some of the secret areas that I'm passing over have any good weapons...

So far, the secret areas I have found have only had those golden starships in them.

@Kruzin: Don't know what you mean with fubar'd, sorry, but do you use the openGL-Hud mode of powerdesk?

Yes. That's the setting that's supposed to fit the HUD onto just the center screen. But with that setting, all text is unreadable, menus are messed up (with the text distorted and off the buttons).
Without that setting, the HUD, crosshairs, console, menus are stretched across all 3. Buttons are still messed up, but console and in-game text are readable.

This is a fun game, I've almost beaten it. Personally I think the story line in this is better than Nemesis was. Of course that isn't all that hard to beat....

No no, Nemesis had a great storyline, it was just *cough* borrowed from The Wrath of Khan

Exactly *laughs* and wasn't executed as well. I thought the starship battle in Wrath of Khan was way better. Because Kirk has to out think Khan, whereas Picard just rammed the other ship in Nemesis.

Anyhow, just beat this game. I'm thinking there are two endings to it, depending on how you interact with the crew. Throughout the game there is this chick that is part of the Hazard team, and another chick that you rescue. You kind of take turns talking to them and I think that depending on what you say to them, is how it ends. Pretty cool ending, though I admit that I cheated in the game twice. (once with this stupid bridge that annoyed me... you know the type of puzzle where you have to jump on one platform, and time it just right so that you can land on the next platform before the one you're standing on disappears.... got sick of it and used the noclip cheat and just FLEW across the damned thing.) And then the three last end fights because they were just WAY hard... ok well actually I didn't really try the very end guy, but the first of the three. He kept flying around and he'd kill me in one hit after he had knocked me down to 52 health and 45 armor! Good luck for all of you, this game can get pretty hard at times.

(and for the record, I did find 13 secrets on my own. Which opened the first secret map, and it was LAME. You just walk around in an old cabin and kill 5 aliens. LAME...)

P.S. Ultimately, this does have a cool plot. Looks like it takes place after Voyager returns and Data has died, since he's not in it at all, and Tuvok is in his place.

Just beat the game (played on "normal" difficulty).
Last level was somewhat challenging. Took me 4 tries. Actually had to do the 2nd to last level more times to get past it.
Didn't run any game cheats, but I did use a "secrets guide" (not a full walkthrough, just hints to where the secrets are).
                    Nabbed all 81 golden starships.
Will go after the bonus levels next.
I agree there are probably 2 endings...one with Telsia, the starfleet babe, and the other with Keela, the thong-wearing alien slu...err...chick. I got the Telsia ending.
Overall, I thought it was a pretty good game, though I should have probably done it at a higher difficulty level.
Maybe I'll go through it again, hitting on Keela next time.

Just wish I coulda done it in surround mode...

Well, those "secret" levels are pathetic.
Not worth the time it took to collect the golden starships to gain access to them.
Most of them had no fragging involved. The ones that did have fragging where uselessly short.
Things like walking through an art gallery of the game's concept art, and walking around a room full of stationary models of all the charaters in the game.
                      Lame...

I got it, already completed it too quite a few weeks ago. Good game, though a little short if you ignore the secrets.
