Unfortunately, Novdid is quite correct. It is time to let go, get a P650. (if you truly want to stick with Matrox)

or go with ATI / nVIDIA. Chip solutions: you can get a Radeon 9600 for cheap these days. Plays game extremely well, and they cost less (or more or less the same) than most Matrox cards.

Put in a DVI panel and you get superb 2D and 3D (please I don't want to start another argument about quality of DVI )

And because you can live with G-series framerates, the slow access time on DVI panels are not important, no?

i used 3d analyze to play this game in my g400,some times it works, but the screen is white, when i use left arrow or right to move LR i can saw the scenery, the light, the ground, etc, but LA's skin is also white,i cant saw her only a white shadow.
so i give up to play this game in g400

            Wow !!!

            This is VERY interesting.....

I only have Win98SE instead of WinXP, but I had same problems and same behaviours as you, deed, when using 3d analyze.

What is your G400 driver version ?
            (the default g400 driver)
It came from Matrox, but is WHQL certifyed, true ?
Do you see the FMV ? (i don't)

If you can, post please a screen capture for the game settings (obviously on the "video" tab).

.. then I will try in the same manner as you ...

Thanks, (you are a boss! )

              hi Zanna
Because i'm no in my room now,so i dont remember the g400 driver version clearly,it's 5.12.0001 or something else, the date is 2001 years, and it has the sign of Microsoft Windows ,i select it in windows xp drivers package through update the driver button, the driver is fine althrough it's no powerdesk inside,i will confirm it when i go back.

i can see the FMV because i download a patch from edois web site,(here is the patch :http://ftp.eidos.com/pub/patches/tom..._PATCH_V42.exe)

and when i install this driver of g400,i almost do nothing in "video" tab only set the resolution to 800*600 and the others keep default, the game goes fine i will capture the screen later

BTW:i got this way from a post in MATROX TECHNOLOGY form(game area)

              good luck Zanna

                    Thanks, deed !!!

Now I will try with exactly your parameters, eventually after installed the default video driver.

With the same TRAoD patch I can't see the FMV ....

Not so bad, I can use a media player for it.

                    Bye. (and thanks again !)

                      FAIL

Unfortunately, after removed the Matrox Drivers and Powerdesk, Win98SE does not find any suitable driver for the video card (utilizing Windows Update under device manager).

                      Then, no default drivers !!

                        ((
maybe you should update your windows 98 to windows xp
or try the Windows certified drivers of matrox g400 card,
download it from matrox ftp, windows 98 version is 6.22.
i will try this evening to install the Windows certified drivers 5.86 in xp ,and tell you the result

... we can think this is a driver issue !!

This evening I will try out the certified drivers for Windows 98 SE, instead of the latest beta drivers.

Then I will stop attempts if doesn't work.....

                              DOES NOT WORK !!

I have made attempts both with certified drivers (6.22) and with latest beta drivers (6.83) and does not work.

In the best case the game (the PC) stop responding after rendered the first frame, after the black FMV when I select "New Game" on the graphicals menu.

I understand that TRAoD and DirectX9.0a are most recent than the latest beta drivers..... and most recent of Win98SE, also, but both TRAoD and DirectX9.0a are made for Win98SE !!!

AND the game specs says that this game must work on this configuration.

Thanks, deed, for your help & suggestions.

I think now we can only "stay tuned" on matrox channels, the solution will arrive soon®

i dont think matrox will solve this issue
so update your system to windows xp(matrox p series card doesn't supports win98 too)

BTW:i feel this game is not so good like before
                                especially cortrol function,terriabl
