Yeah - ET is an *excellent* game.

@KieFront: How does it perform on the Parhelia? I have a Radeon 8500DV in one machine, and it's pretty smooth at 1024x768, with most of the eye candy on. My other machine (with a G450 and an Athlon XP1500 vs. the 8500DV and an XP2200) is fairly playable at 800x600 with most graphics features at minimum - not so great.

I've been thinking of getting a Parhelia (or waiting for P2 / P8x / whatever), but this particular game may be important for that decision .

I'm not KF, but I maxed it at 1024x768, turned up FAA & AF, and forgot about it. Haven't tried Surround yet though.

Runs great, I'm always playing at 1024*768, all settings max, FAA off, AF on (and no graphical tweaking e.g. picmip, etc). The framerate drops a lot in open areas but this is also the case with other video cards.

I turned FAA off because FAA doesn't work great in the railgun map, it hinders gameplay (but maybe this will get fixed with the next driver).

Surround gaming is another thing, the HUD fix doesn't work for ET (so hud and compass will be stretched). It's a bit difficult to play ET with it so I only play ET with a single screen (though the HUD fix works great for RTCW, etc).

Has anyone tried the 2.56 version of ET yet? I was wondering if they fixed the stretched HUD.

Haven't installed it I don't game under linux, I also haven't installed the windows patch (1.02) because it seems to break more things than it fixes.

Wasn't even aware that the 2.56 version was linux only, is it? (figured they were doing the cross-platform thing...) Perhaps I should give it a go under linux and see if Surround Gaming works right.
