  • X2 : The Threat.... performance?

Anyone else having difficulties with the performance of this game? it looks like it could be really cool, but I couldn't get past the intro, it was SO choppy as to make my head hurt!

I have the Parhelia (1.5.1.7 drivers) and a 3.06ghz P4 with HyperThreading. You'd think the game would run on THAT!

On the upside, it looks like triple-head could work for it

I ran the rolling demo on my system, which still has an old G400 Max in it, unsurprisingly it ran like a dog. Thought about sticking a P750 in it as it should do a much better job, apparently not

I was wondering if it was just because I always have tons of crap running. I didn't actually play the game any though, since the graphical cutscene was just too slow. Oddly enough, the benchmark ran at about 30fps.

Deus Ex 2 is another one that is quite the headache maker. I just overclocked my P to 230/570 and it still chugged. Fraps was stating that I was getting 5-18 fps!

Sweet, Paddy. If I can get this game working (hopefully with some very nice visuals and being smooth) then I may yet keep my parhelia. Though Deus Ex 2 looks like one that needs some optimizations. It uses the UT2003 engine, I think. So you would think it'd run pretty decently on the Parhelia... (then again, it seems anymore that games are all 'optimized' for nVidia cards... They are all starting to have that little nVidia logo at the beginning too... what's up with that? I'd like to see one that says "Powered by Matrox." or something...)

That logo means that some parts of the game code has been wrote/optimized by nVidia internal developers...

                  Hello Leech,
Yeah I think I got X2 running pretty good now... and I know what you mean about Deus Ex 2 .... what a disappointment !

AND it is not just on the Parhelia .. I have a RADEON 9800 PRO in a P4 3Ghz - 1G RAM system and it is nearly as bad !

I was hoping we could get Deus Ex 2 to run TH but it clearly has problems ... lets hope Ion can sort it out !

                  Cheers,
                  Paddy

Good to hear! I was going to have Byock give it a run on his system with his AIW 9800 to see how it ruan, but if it runs like ass on a P4 3ghz with a 9800 Pro, maybe I don't have to upgrade to one just for that game.. And I can keep my Triple-Head
