Voice is here
Download the Ventrilo client here
Ventrilo server IP = 65.56.143.162
port# = 3795
PW= 101092
TB Santa Cruz owners check this achilles heel . I solved it, for myself, by using the onboard, audio, mic input
I've tested the setup on my home LAN and all was good.
Still a lot to learn. I'm definitely a n00b at this voice stuff.Last edited by SitFlyer; 11 March 2004, 15:00.

Why Ventrillo? I already have it and it is indeed a pretty good app, but doesn't the game already have voice communication built in?My rig: P4 3.0GHz; Asus P4C800E; 1GB DDR 3200; AIW Radeon 9800 Pro; WD 120GB SATA; Plextor DVD burner; Liteon DVD reader; Audigy 2ZS; Logitech Z560 4.1; NEC FE991SB

We don't have to use the Ventrilo server to play UT2004, but, we can use it for UT2k3, or both. Besides it was an added, free, benefit with the new server locations. It doesn't matter to me whether we use it for UT2004. We'll just have to come to a general consensus, I suppose. Just trying to cover all the bases I guess.

Well, the nice thing about Ventrilo is that it's a constant open line, so you don't have to press a key to talk. Not quite sure how much it affects our bandwidth (client side)... not much that I've noticed in the few times I've used it.
I've actually used it here at home when I've set up a LAN to play games with my two kids. Instead of yelling to/at each other across the house, I just start my own ventrilo server and all of us put on our headsets. Works pretty good... of course my wife just rolls her eyes.Last edited by Beezer; 11 March 2004, 19:10.My rig: P4 3.0GHz; Asus P4C800E; 1GB DDR 3200; AIW Radeon 9800 Pro; WD 120GB SATA; Plextor DVD burner; Liteon DVD reader; Audigy 2ZS; Logitech Z560 4.1; NEC FE991SB

Well for the most part my kids use some generic $20 headsets. One I got from Fry's electronics, the other was a gift from RadioShack. They both work pretty well from what I've seen/heard. The one from Fry's (I can't remember the manufacturer) has it's own volumn control which is quite nice). I am currently using a Microsoft Game Voice headset. I just use the headset portion and plug it directly into the computer (the channel/control module was too bulky and cumbersome for my preferences).My rig: P4 3.0GHz; Asus P4C800E; 1GB DDR 3200; AIW Radeon 9800 Pro; WD 120GB SATA; Plextor DVD burner; Liteon DVD reader; Audigy 2ZS; Logitech Z560 4.1; NEC FE991SB
