Hello,
I asked Dave ... Racer_S ... at ToCA Edit if he could make us a FOV tool ... He did ...get it here ...
To get the game going in Surround .... and get a half decent performance it has to be set at quite a low resolution ... but due to the nature of the game it isn't so bad.
Here's what I have found to be the best set- up.
First run the game ... in the options pages ... Set ...
Noise Effect to OFF
Display Mode to NORMAL
Rendering Resolution to 1024x512
Lenseflare Quality to LOW
Real-time Shadows to NO
Exit the game... edit the disp.ini in the SILENT HILL 3 folder.
Set the Size to 1920x480.....
Warning : If you go back into the Options menu in the game after you have set this resolution... the game will revert back to default resolutions.
It will do higher screen resolutions but they don't seem to make any difference to the quality of the image.
What does make a difference is the Rendering Resolution ... set in the game options menu.
Set it too high and the game runs and look great but it is VERY slow.
Now run the FOV tool... Set it to ...
Width Field of View (FOV): 0.6
Height Field of View (FOV): 1.6
Leave it running and start the game.
Enjoy ...Some screens ...
