  • Parhelia independent res - keep mouse to 1 screen

    OK probably a pretty elementary question, but having recently moved house, the computer with the Parhelia in has been given a slightly changed role.

    I used to have 3 CRTs and so a stretched desktop. When gaming on non-surround games, the other screens would blank out and I had no problems with the mouse pointer.

    Now I want to have it set up with 2 CRTs, independent resolutions. The 3rd head goes off to do TV out duties . However when in a game (only played C&C Generals briefly so far, so am generalising from this - if you'll excuse the pun), the mouse pointer will move off to the other desktop when you try to pan right (ie move the mouse off to the right). How can I make it so that the mouse remains in the active display only?

    The issue goes away if I switch to stretched desktop across the 2 CRTs, but as they are a 19" and a 17", I would prefer independent res...

    TIA

    Also why are there no keys on the keyboard to make the mouse pointer jump to the other screens e/g if you have triple head. like ALT 1 , ALT2, ALT 3

      I take the lack of answers as "you can't" then so I'll have to stick to stretched desktop?

        well all you have to do is temporarily disable the second monitor in display settings.

        play your game then re-enable the second screen, maybe better than stretched mode for you.

            And what happened to your 3 LCDs anyway?

              I asked the same question on here a while ago (GTA issue) and I believe the answer was a little prog called MouseJail.

                @ dbdg - thanks I'll give it a look once teh infraweb is connected at home

                @ tone - had 3 CRTs, ditched one in the move (was slightly blurry anyway) and was planning on moving to 3 LCDs but to be quite honest now I have the TV hooked up to the 3rd head 2 LCDs will do just as well really and less hassle, also the space for the computer would look much better with 2... I have found that I haven't really been surround gaming anyway, and for desktop stuff it's nice to have 3 (especially for website stuff) but I can get away with 2. Need to save some money for the 2 lazy boys in true Joey and Chandler bachelor pad stylee anyhoo

                  @dbdg - thanks here too..could be very usefull for me at work too.

                  @gnep - ah, my bad. I have 1600*1200*2 (3.8MP) at home, 1280*1024*3 (3.9MP) at work...I couldn't even contemplate losing one now!

                  I'm with you on the LAZEEBOYS! I nearly bought a 3pc suite last weekend with 2 full recliners in the settee and 2 reclining armchairs, one with swivel and rocker too. £3.3k was a bit too rich though!
