  • The Sims 2 in Surround

    1. Edit these lines in Graphics Rules.sgr file
    setting $High
    uintProp maxResWidth 2400
    uintProp maxResHeight 600
    uintProp defaultResWidth 2400
    uintProp defaultResHeight 600

    2. Start the game and when in game play you can go to the options and choose the Surround Resolution.

P.S. Use Chr79's fix to get smooth game performance

I'm not trying to take Chr79's credit. This is all his work except for the Surround Gaming part. Here is what you have to edit/add in the Graphics Rules.sgr file if Chr79's site happens to be down. The first 3 digit number represents the line number and not needed to be entered. Start from top to bottom and enter carefully ... because some of these lines don’t exist in the original file and you will have to add them ... which will add to the total number of lines in the file.

    111 setb useSoftwareRasterizer false
    112 boolProp forceSoftwareVP true
    113 boolProp simpleTerrain true

    688 uintProp maxResWidth 2400
    689 uintProp maxResHeight 600
    690 uintProp defaultResWidth 2400
    691 uintProp defaultResHeight 600

I am sorry but i have no idea how you can play this game with a Parhelia. It's so choppy at 2400x600 with everything on low. I believe I can't have more than 1 fps. Everything takes ages and if I choose something I can go and get a cup of coffee or something before it happens.

Yeah, I agree, the fix does wonders, it's unplayable otherwise.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

The way I wrote my first thread is actually backwards. You should apply the fix first and then do the other mods for Surround.
