That's hilarious! I've been playing around with the new patch. But unfortunately they still haven't fixed the irritating fact that when I first load it up, I get into the game, then about the first three firefights I get into, it has to load the stupid sounds for the gun firing, or something..... I push the mouse button to shoot a guy in the face, and the game just pauses while it loads up what it needs to.... any ideas on how to fix this? Or is there a fix for this? Maybe I just need more ram? I have 512mb of RAM and a 3.06ghz P4 (533mhz variety) and an eVGA 6800GT. Along with my Audigy 2 Platinum. I've tried all the drivers I could find... though theoretically I have the newest drivers for everything now, especially since I just re-installed everything.

Dunno sounds like you need too unpack the levels first. I know you can do that for the doom3 but the amount of disk space that gets eaten is a lot.

I tried out the 1.3 patch yesterday and the HDR rendering looks wonderful
. It’s a pity I'm CPU limited in the game tough.

Upack the levels? The game is already 3.4gb of hard drive space... That's just ridiculous that is still packed.... I thought maybe it was a memory issue (I've read at least that UT2k4 will run better if you have at least 768mb of ram.) Anyone else with 512mb of ram have this problem?Originally posted by The PIT

And yes, Doom 3 does this as well, but if I tell it to usecache or some command like that, it worked great.
