  • FPS Surround Game recommendation?

MY *only* FPS experience is all pre-Parhelia consisting of Doom, Quake, Serious Sam, Sodier of Fortune and Wolfenstein.

Given Parhelia is not up to scratch for a full Doom 3 experience what do you recommend that I try next? FarCry looks good - but can the Parhelia do it justice?

If you believe that the Parhelia is not up to scratch for a full Quake 3 experience then I beleve that there are proberbly no FPS that you would be happy with on the Parhelia.

I wouldn't bother trying anything else ... get a different card.
    My Systems :

    P4 3.2GHz - ABIT IC7-G – Matrox Parhelia 128 8x AGP - 2GB 3200 DDR
    480W Whisper Quiet PS - 2 x 160 GB HD - 3 x 19” Viewsonic TFT’s 3840x1024

Sorry - my mistake - I meant Parhelia was not really up to scratch for Doom3.

Any good FPS games that play in surround - perhaps based on the Quake3 engine or other of that genre? 2-3 year old games are fine. I tried Serious Sam second encounter but it repeatedly crashed my machine using the 1.50beta patch that gives you surround abilities

For now I am re-loading Quake 3 just to see it at higer than 640x480 but I have played that to death in the past and would like to get something different...

      Has anyone tried FarCry?

FarCry works in Surround but in my opinion it’s not worth it playing on Parhelia. Doom 3 runs better then FarCry

            Hello ..
            "Quake" - Doom 3 ... there's a big difference ...

By "full" do you mean Surround ?
I know it depends a lot on your set up but Doom 3 works great for me on a single screen.

Kruzin has mentioned the best of them ..
but there are a couple of others that IMO are worth a look ...

            Deadly Dozen 2 Pacific Theatre
            Line of Sight - Vietnam
            Counter-Strike: Source

UT has lots of replay value ...
            Counter-Strike: is really addictive ...
I'm enjoying Tribes Vengeance at the moment ... I like to jet/fly ...

@ Kruzin ... Did you see my post about TV and Headbobing ?

"Chaser" runs very smooth with Parhelia. Just choose the Surround Gaming resolutions from game options and start playing.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had a crack at Tribes Vengeance using the downloadable demo and I got the image in surround though it was like playing with binoculars strapped to my eyes (fov problem). I followed the instructions in Paddy's thread. I'll have to take another shot at it from a clean start.
