Well, couple of advices...
- Adjust the tire grip so that your car is sliding, but still controllable.
- Speed is very important, as is the angle at which you`re drifting (i assume 90 degree, ie drifting sideways, gives the most points). You might want to build up speed and then do a major drift instead of doing lots of smaller ones.
- Adjust so you have max acceleration. You dont need 200 km/h in drift stages.
- Turn off stability control while drifting.
- Chain-link your drifts, do not go all out into a 60+ degree drift, instead turn your car 20-30 deg, let go of the gas, immidiately turn in the other direction and step on it, esp. on straight parts of the track.
- Alway try to drift near the wall, the more wheels you have on the blue-white thingy (forgot what its called :/)(or red-white on some stages, or are off the asphalt on organic drift stages),
the quicker you`ll rack up points and gain higher multis.
- Again, speed, dont slow down to much, and, of course, try not to hit a wall

Grabbed a copy recently. Here's my latest ride. No good cars available yet...Attached FilesLady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Dunno why, but in the middle of the track, I keep getting lower scores than drifting close to the walls (without actually hittng 'em of course).
I followed yours and omegaRED's suggestions and successfully won a few Drift races, but there's this Downhill Drift, which I seem to be unable to win, ie. I need 150000 points, but my best attempt was a lousy 75000.
I guess, I just suck in NFS-U2's Drifts ...
Now I wonder, how long I can keep racing, before I must win that Downhill Drift, in order to get new challenges.Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

The downhill race is not on timed ... so you can take your time. Try going left/right/left/right on the straight line to make the car go into drift. You pretty much have to stay in drift for most of the track in order to win it. Try using a smaller car. They slide better.2 x Opteron 270 • Tyan K8WE • 8Gb Kingston HyperX • 2 x BFG 7900GTX SLI • Matrox TH2G • Areca SATA RAID • 4 x WD RaptorX RAID6 • Creative X-FI Elite Pro • Klipsch 5.1 Ultra • PC P&C 1KW PSU • 3 x Samsung 19" LCD • The System is Fully Water Cooled

I'm using the MX5 and it drifts like crazy, but still I get pretty low scores.
I guess the main reason is that I basically come everytime to a halt, ie. I drift a little too far ... dunno why, but this sucks.
Although downhill drifting is not time limited, I'm pretty sure, that I cannot go back up the hill and continue drifting, can I ?Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

You can go back but only to get some speed ... the drift point will actually only continue fron the point you stoped. The idia behind downhill drift is going fast while drifting. The problem with that is you end up hitting something and loosing the points.

Well, I started a fresh profile with what I've learned along the way. Building just 2 vehicles for now...a Corolla and an Escalade. And with these vehicles, drifting is WAY harder than it it was with the Miata MX-5.
The Miata could easily be made to slide all over. Other cars are not quite as easy to do that with. I've become very familiar with the handbrake button to compensate...Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s

getting closer ...
what really stumped me, that I drive a lot more efficiently, using the same setup as I use for URL racing, ie. shocks are hard as a rock, car is put down really low etc.
Also, I found those extra areas besides the street lane that give you a lot higher scores ...
Only let down so far, I added more goodies to my car so it passed 6 style points and as a result, I'll now have to finish above 200000 points to finish that downhill drift, instead of the formerly needed 150000 ...Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...
