sweet I like Josh's teaching style. He really makes you think beyond the mechanical aspect of chess.

I worked through the excercises for checkmating with a king and queen or king and rook and the forking exercises yesterday. I'm starting the pinning exercises today.

One thing I don't like about the game is that it plays in windowed mode instead of full screen. But I guess that has advantages too because your can easily bring up IE to research a move, etc. Having 3 screens is an advantage in this case.

So were you using Hamachi to play a LAN game of Chessmaster? I haven't tried playing it online, but doesn't it have built in ability to do this? Why would you need to setup a VPN type of environment to play?
        P.S. You've been Spanked!

Go purchase ChessMaster 10th Edition. Once that is done, we can connect to eachother through Hamachi as if you were directly connected to my LAN or vice-versa.

With Hamachi, it is private. You don't have to deal with other people bothering you. It would be similar to me inviting you over to my house to play against eachother over my local network. Except that it is done virtually through Hamachi.

Sure, we could connect to Ubi's servers and do it that way as well. Either way is good for me, but Hamachi is less hassle IMHO.

How about we just email moves to each other via algebraic notation?

And see how your Chessmaster does against my Fritz? I know some places (or I could try and remember them at least) where we could play chess online, but playchess.com does nicely. Played Utwig there a few times.

Actually, 30 day free trial is offered there. My nick is Umfriend. Playchess.com is rather good and deals well with lag.

Who, me? Yessir, got a club-rating, Dutch rating and a rating on playchess (but that is blitz games only, really). Are you?
