Bought it - beat it! Awesome game, just gotta ignore some of the bugs that pop up and voice acting that can be (only sometimes) lame. Doesn't run as well as I hoped, but still plenty playable and enjoyable at 1280x1024 on my system.

Probably the longest game I have ever played, but I think that might be because of the loooooooong (and excessive amounts of) load times.

Just started it. On my P4-3.0GHz, 1GB and 9600PRO it is slowish but playable at 1280x1024. Load times are longish indeed.

Having said that, I found the NWN UI nicer and easier but that might just be me having to get used to this.

so why does it run with 20fps @ 1024x768 for me?

Load times aren't that bad though, but that's probably due to T3h rApt0rz

Make sure you get all the updates, might fix the frame rate problem - there was one patch that said it "fixed" some fps problems.

LOL, I am not even sure that I get 20 fps @12x10.

Loads times are around 15-20 seconds for me for larger area transitions, only occasionally being less if smaller, or more if much bigger. Anyway, I too am getting really crappy framerates. I think around 15 fps @ 1024x768 (With everything turned on ).

However, I did have hanging nearly every area transition, and unexplained hangs when moving on the landscape. No patch (even new 1.03) really helps. Just save LOADS and keep re-loading. (Thankfully my system boots up in under 30 seconds to usable Windows XP, otherwise I wouldn't even bother with the game).

I liked modding my monk character to becoming one badass fighter though. Great and Supreme Cleaving through things whilst being able to Circle Kick early helps speed through the game and makes things more fun (I don't like re-loading 'cos a bunch of thieves succesfully knocked down my character and then all of them Backstabbing me for double or more damage).

Well, I think I am almost actually glad you guys are getting low rates - it justifies my purchase of my X800XT a few months ago.

Maybe the game just runs better on ATi hardware?

that's probably because Jing's Avatar had lingered on in your memory?

seriously i just got the game and am thinking of building a pure-class ranger and see how far i can go with the 3.5 rules implemented in this game... Rangers have been cut down horribly this time round... (How is it that Paladdins don't suffer this?)

A wood-elf ranger sounds good with dual rapiers and weapon finesse (the rest can have their drow ranger with dual scimitars for all i care )

currently in the middle of act 3 with a wiz5/ftr1/EKn10/nwn1. i think i'll start up either a pure monk, or a woodelf ranger/harper agent.

i could always follow the Drizzt path and go male drow Ftr10/Bbn1/Rgr5 of Mielikki. (official WoC).

not the easiest path if you factor in the 3.5e penalties for favorite class.

NWN2 was on sale at Best Buy on Black Friday for $24.95. I passed up on it. I figured I just wouldn't have the time to go thru the game. But I just pulled the trigger and got Guild Wars Nightfall at amazon.

so i've finished the game again with a pure monk char.. restarted with a pure ranger at 7th atm.

would like to point out that pre 3.5e rangers have always been 'over-powered' compaired to both fighters and paladins. the 3.5e 'cut downs' for rangers still leaves you pretty powerful character class.
1, you get the fighters' BAB
                        2. you get bonus feats = fighters (limited to ranger feats)
                        3. SKILLS, 6+int per lvl (rogues get 8+int, bards 4+int, EVERYONE ELSE 2+int)
                        4. animal companion after 4th lvl
                        5. caster level = 1/4 druid
                        6. by 6th lvl a ranger has 4 attacks per round (if using two weapons), regular fighter has 2 attacks/round. by 11th lvl ranger has 6 attacks/round, fighter has 3/round.

all 3.5e did was downgrade the ranger from d10 hd/lvl to d8. boo ****ing hoo.

*grin* Just complaining for the sake of it
of course you could actually make a much better ranger-like character,
if you wanted with lvl4 thief/lvl4 wizard or druid or cleric/lvl12 fighter

My point of view was paladins are fighter/clerics as are rangers who are the druids' equivalent,
but when rangers got down from d10 hd to d8 Paladins didn't. This was what i was refering to.
I must admit that rangers can still be one heck of a class if you know how to use them even with the 3.5 changes

I have a question about the warlock class (I ussually always simply play as a sorcerer): you can only be a warlock if you are at least either chaotic or evil or something. As I play, I always shift to Lawful and Good. Will that indeed cause me to suffer penalties someway if that happens with a warlock character?

As far as I remember from, NWN or BGII, becoming a multiclass character precludes you to obtain higher levels in the class you started out with, is that still the case? What would be a disadvantage to become a lvl2 of everything (as a matter of speaking?)
