Only joking!
Seriously though, there are two issues:
1) is the range of the BT signal. Are BT extenders available?
2) is the accuracy of the pointing. The working range is 1 -4/5 metres. Any closer and the emitters are outside the field of view of the sensor. Any further away and (a) the signal gets dimmer and (b) the emitters become closer together in the field of view so your pointing accuracy dimishes.
I think that for most games though (1) is the real problem. For controlling the Wii itself you can usually use the buttons.FT.

We have Zelda (just because you have to), Excite truck (only played a couple of times) and Wii Play (don't bother, its just a bunch of games to learn how to use the remote).
Honestly, I love the air hockey-like game and the tank game is good fun
If you plan on getting a lot of people playing, then Mario Party can be a blast, though I do recommend renting it just to see if it's your thing.
As far as the remote distance issue goes, proper placement of the sensor bar is definitely a factor. Beyond that, Tone summed it up.“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

I am in the market for another Wii (having already bought and sold two). I will probably get a modded one this time, although I am torn between chips. The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

the d2c drive chips have arrived, and they haven't been hacked yet.
which means no mod works.Juu nin to iro

would that be the ones with or without the cut pins on the chip - yes they are still modable, but for the ones with cut pins, it involves a dremelJuu nin to iro

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
You don't know the benefits of modding a Wii?
A modded Wii lets you run amazing applications at three times the normal speed!
It fights off disease! (It's been rumored to put cancer into remission, but that's unconfirmed...)
It protects you from communists, republicans, and "carnies".
It allows you to cook 10-minute rice in 5 minutes!
It increases the size (length but more importantly GIRTH) of your manhood, while simultaneously making you irresistable to all women within a 100 yard radius.
...
...
No seriously, it lets you run copied games, both Wii and GC. It also lets you run homebrewed apps, such as the ones to copy stuff from main system RAM to the otherwise utterly useless SD card slot. The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

I'm the least you could do, oh yeah
If only life were as easy as you
I would still get screwed
