  • Wierd mip-mapping in Pod Racer.

Anybody else get a really wierd mip-mapping effect in Episode 1: Racer? As the horizon comes up the draw-in, which used to flow in smoothly and imperceptably on my old TNT, now comes in whole polygons at a stretch. It makes it look almost like shafts of light in the distance. Very distracting. Of interesting note though, if I turn off bus-mastering, it mip-maps correctly. Of course the frame rate drops dramatically too. To date my guess has been that either my 503+ MB isn't playing nice with busmastering, or Lucasarts games in general do not play nice with Matrox hardware, or both. Any thoughts?

Hmm... I'd say it's the 503+, cause I got a Asus P2B-F with the G400 and Pod Racer is one fo the games I load up to show it off. Sily smooth and fast as hell in high res.

This is pretty much the thought I'm leaning toward. The VIA MVP3 chipset is a real dog when it comes to busmastering. It gives me the imfamous DMA/popping-cracking with the SB Live! and it mip-maps weird with Racer. Although, I have to say almost everything else looks pretty good. Rogue Squadron looks all funky right now, but that is a known issue. Tomb 3 and Thief work like champs though. Just Pod Racer gives me this headache. Oh, and Expendable won't run at all. Just crashes to windows with nary an error message. Thankfully, I will be getting an Intel set up soon.
