    RE: Busmastering and OpenGL/D3D

It was just my obervation that D3D games runs just fine without busmastering. Q3test will not even start without busmastering - it just produces a light grey screen, then a totally white screen and then it hangs.

This is not really relevant for this forum but I'm now also using Dualhead w. my CL Encore attached to the secondary display.
But I cannot find an option to use Dualhead to emulate two completely seperate graphics cards, only either as a zoom of the first screen, or as an extention of the first screen - could that be true?

Argh. I upgraded my Asus P2L97 board to an Abit BP6 so I could run AGP cards which use a lot of current and now you guys say AGP2X doesn't work w/ the G400 <sigh>-:
      Hope Matrox fixes the problem...

        Martin,

There are four ways to use DualHead:

        1. Clone: Displays a duplicate of the main display, optionally at a different refresh rate. useful for playing games (or, say, watching TechDemo) on your big-screen TV.

        2. DVDMax: Displays the contents of the hardware overlay, which is typically a DVD movie or a video clip played back by a video player (such as Media Player, RealPlayer, or QuickTime).

        3. Zoom: Displays a blown-up area of your main display. This feature is activated by hotkeys which allow you to define the size and location of the region in "real-time". Very useful for image editing.

        4. Multi-Display: Sets up DualHead as a secondary display for the Windows 98 desktop. Once activated, you can define the virtual desktop position of the secondary display via the Settings tab of the main Display Properties dialog. You can use either a second monitor or a TV with this feature.

So what you need to do is set up your DualHead to work as Multi-Display. Note, however, that while the first three DualHead features can all be used within the same Windows session, switching to or from Multi-Display requires a Windows restart. A little inconvenient, but I think it's caused by a Windows limitation.

        Hope this information helps you.

          Hello

I also get the same freezing in Q3test 1.08 I haven't played online but in the demos it freezes 3 times out of four. I haven't tried any other OpenGL games but I don't know if the System Shock 2 demo is OpenGL,but that works fine.

            Hello all,

After reading all these posts i have to ask the question...Is this a config problem with your setups or have u recieved defective boards? I have found that the G400 is a VERY sensitive card for diff configs. I was having similar crash problems with all games and Desktop and the Tech Demo...it took me a week to fix my problem. I had to C:format my HDD and reinstall a fresh version of Win 98, then install the G400 1st with the DirectX6.1 that came with the driver CD. Now my card runs flawessly....the only 3 games i play are Kingpin, Q3 Test 1.08, and Half Life/C Strike/TFC. And i would think that this is with the default bus mastering settings, and AGP settings whatever that maybe. I have done no reg hacks for enabling AGPx1 so i believe im running AGPx2 and i would also guess that bus mastering is enabled. Keep trying...i would suggest a C:format....ya i know its a hassle but it worked for me

            Good Luck,

                Hey

I started this with a clean install. Installed the 5.13 drivers for the G400 only and DirectX from the CD (Matrox). Then I installed the MX300; and then Q3 1.08 freezing from the get-go.
