  • G400Max performance

    Hi,

How will the performance of the G400MAX compare to my current Voodoo2 in a PIII 450 ?.

ie, Unreal, Quake, Draken, Midtown Madness etc.

Unreal is a Glide game. No matter how much they hack it up, it will always be a Glide game. G400 runs it well, and looks great, but the Voodoo will be faster.

Quake based games are OGL. That API is still improving on the Matrox drivers. Right now, the 3dfx minigl is faster than the matrox OGL, but not by that much. G400 looks WAY better than than Voodoo here. The next driver release will see a big step up in the OGL speeds with the G400.

Drakan is D3D. G400 kicks ass here. Plus Drakan uses EMBM. Only G400 does that right now. I just finished the game (and will be playing it again), and it absolutly ROX on G400.

Almost any D3D game will go in favor of the G400 in speed and visual quality.

Hmmmmm, right I will bung the G400MAX in along with my Voodoo2, (I am using a G200 at the moment), and just use the V2 for the odd glide game if the D3D option is not fast enough.

      Thanks for the info..
