  • G400 and OpenGL

I'm having problems running OpenGL stuff (Quake 2, Q3, tribes, kingpin). The games lock
up with a some garbling of the picture. It is similar to problems described on other posts but their fixes don't work.
    My Specs are as follows

    MoBo:FICA PA-2013 w/ 2M cache
    CPU:K3-450
    Memory:128M PC100 8ns
    Sound Card:PCI Ensoniq AudioPCI
    Video:G400 SingleHead Vanilla
    Ethernet -Link DE-528 PCI
    CDROM:Generic 40x

I have all the latest drivers...Tried to force AGP 1x.
    Please Reply!

Make sure you follow this exactly:

Download the latest drivers for your video card, download the latest Bios for you MoBo., download the 4 in 1 Via driver from Via's website.
Flash your Bios, boot up. Run the uninstaller from Matrox, reboot, switch to standard Vga adapter in windows, reboot, go into your bios and disable read around write save the settings and exit and boot into windows, install your 4 in 1 driver in turbo mode, reboot, install the G400's drivers and reboot. If that doesn't work then you will have to force AGP 1X. Still have lockups after that? Go into your BIOS and disable Cache write pipeline.

Also, have you tried changing the AGP Aperature size in the BIOS?

Make sure you get the latest Matrox G400 drivers as was said too. I'm running PowerDesk 5.15.

For all VIA based Fic motherboard,
you have to install a patch available
at the fic website in order to have
win 95/98 working with an agp card.

the last patch is called Vx29.
Have a look at fic web site.
