  • G200 gaming

going to be picking up a BH6+celeron366 to o/c, was wondering on how g200's gaming (going to try to get a g200 8mb sgram) rates and if the recent opengl icd (they DID release one finally didn't they?) improves things any.

    Hi there

I upgraded to a G400 a few days ago, but I must say my G200 still went well in all the games I had. Even Quake3 demo at 800x600, 16 bit, 1 notch below max textures was very playable (well, not perfect, but that is supposed to be a sample of next-gen games...). Half-Life, Quake 2 were alright, too. I have a celeron 450A.

So don´t think it´s an outdated card yet.

Just be sure to use the latest drivers (5.13)

Especially the late releases of the G200 series is very OCable, hence it performs quite well.

Grab the latest drivers from here: http://www.murc.ws/Driver/Win9x/PD5/w9x_515.exe
      (not 5.13)
The ICD is quite pleasant ...

Well I got it to do 2D...how is its performance in Max or Lightwave with the new ICD? I kept reading on how the beta ICD was atrocious...

I don't think I want to get back into gaming, 20-30fps in Quake II will do!

G200 is great if you only do some gaming. I still can kick ass in TFC with a Marvel and 56K modem. I heard latest OpenGL does improve 3d modeling apps performance some not sure on how good though.
