Why is my P2-333 such a dog in SETI???

Well I have a Gateway G6-333 in work that I use. I ripped out the POS Riva128 in it and replaced it with a mothballed Marvel G200 that I had at home. I installed SETI@home on it and the damn thing takes FOREVER to do a WU. I'm talking like 24 hrs or more to finish one unit up. My P3-558 crunchs them out in avg of 7-12 hrs. Whats going on here?

I assume your running the GUI version?

I'm guessing you forgot to set 'blank screen' in the screen saver settings to between 1-5 mins(& check it of course .
NOT doing this can nearly double your WU times.

I have a PII 333 that works from me with 64Mb RAM ,it does WU's in about 12.5hrs + or - 1/2hr.

BTW your PIII 558 should be doing WU's in about 7-7.5 hrs ,assuming your running nothing cpu intensive alongside
