Rags do you think you could write a short memo on what tasks(services) you can safly disable in w2k for SETI to funktion as fast as possible! and mail it to me (or Pace)so we can use it on Pace's site!

I would if I had my system optimized for that, but unfortunately, I don't. I am relegated to normal use on my machine once again

Rags I have read all the old "topics" where you tell people to remove services and progs. from the MSConfig plus that I have the mails you have sent to me telling Your system was different to mine because the diffrent ver of the mobo(yeah like that would make a diff) and that your SETI config is different from mine! What is(whas) the difference from an normal seti instal and your? I know you had it runing at an FSB of 166MHz well an FSB of 166MHz with the old ver 1.6 (or 2.4) is slower than 2.7 and I can't get times like yours! ยดNo mather what CLI(GUI) I am using! So please tell me what the seacret with your setup is!

I just read the emails I have sent you, and no where did I say mb versions have anything to do with the speed. Like I have said many times before, I just bumped my FSB up high as hell, disabled services in win2k, and did a minimal driver install for SETI processing. I don't remember what all the services and drivers were, because I just did it many many times until it worked. I also had my system optimized for background operations, and set the priority of SETI to high.

                            Guru,

I don't know what your problem is, but you sure have to be the most whiny person I have ever had the displeasure of communicating with. I have given you detailed information of my system. I am sorry if it wasn't enough for you. And as far as calling me a liar, well if you would take the time to read, you would understand that I have not been using my system for SETI for the last few months. If you don't understand still, I will have to break out the crayons and post in a language/form you understand. I cannot remember each and every thing I had disabled or enabled, it was too long ago. If you would have asked then, I would have told you every service I had disabled, but you didn't. You asked me which ones helped the most. I did not know, because I was not going to disable one at a time, reboot then run ten work units, then disable another, and so on. That is insane for such little gain. So what I did was make up a configuration just for SETI, and when I would leave my computer running for SETI, I would boot into that particular config. Simple as that. I don't think that was dumb, I call it being shrewd. If you cannot try something like that, don't come pissing to me, because I have no sympathy for someone who is willing to bitch about other people because of their own laziness. Beta testing has nothing to do with this, and nothing to do with the way that system was set up. And, no I just don't hap-hazardly disable this and that. That's what hardware profiles, ghost installs, and dual booting off of separate boot partitions are for. If I F*ck up, I can always have a fallback.

I am not going to sit here and take abuse from some little twit spammer like yourself. You should just go back to posting numerous threads in this forum for the hell of it, and be happy.

You know, if you had been nice, and not such an arse (like this time and the time before), I would have been happy to help you out, but you just imply I am a cheat and liar, and if that's the case, then why bother to ask me for help?? I will never understand this.
