  • Best Seti solution?

    What 3rd party app does what? Cannae be ersed daein' it masel so ah'd thocht ah'd let ya's a' dae it!

    SetiQ? SetiSpy?

    I want caching and personal stats. I also run a Win2k network here (with the other machine being shared to me so that I can upload with batches) so NT compatibilty is required

    Thanks for saving me the time

    And once I'm using it I'll make a guide for them

    Paul.

    SetiQ is still my favorite caching program. It's not very easy to hide (trayer was a problem for me), but I have had no problems with it running. THe instructions on the developer's site leave a lot to be desired. They are all there, but they are broken up and hidden in various places. I had no set-up problems because I printed all of the info on the page and links (a lot of the inportant info is stuck on the download page, as opposed to the FAQ or instructions).

    I love SetiSpy as a monitor/results log. Its small, unobtrusive, and works well. Roelof has very good instruction/info on his site for his program.

      Since you have more than one machine in network, the best and easiest is SetiQ for the caching.

      As for setup, you can run with the default qseti.txt -file, but I recommend looking through and change as you want, specifically this:
      Autoconnect=no; if not always connected
      queue_depth=5; to get max cache-size
      max=10; if not, you're starting with 2 wu-cache.
      result_log=log; if you want to keep an overview of what every machine has done.
      proxy_server= xxx; if you need it...

      You must edit wsockhk.txt to get correct operation (if you don't use 192.168.0.1)
      Since NT you can probably just edit out the
      qseti_server=xxx-line, or use \\computername if this doesn't work.

      setiq.exe is the cache-program, and if you want to hide it, run it as service.
      sq.exe is used to upload/download/info.
      Note, setiq doesn't start caching before first request to get wu is received.

      Since NT-machine, the easiest is to use seti.exe -proxy computername:5512 as command-line on all machines. You can't use \\ in the computername here. Computername is the name of the machine that setiq.exe is running on, and 5512 is the port the program is using. If using ip-address, you must have static ip-address on the setiq-machine.
