  • More Random Questions, heheh sorry..

OK, sorry, just had a few more SETI questions.

    1) I thought I read a post earlier about some script that told you exactly how long your last wu's were.... and hopefully stored them into some kind of a log file. If not, Is there some program that will log just how long the last wu took? I dont want any of that fancy bullshit, to see how much frequency blah blah blah is... just the time.

    2) My SETI avg. Cpu time, well, Iv got this one POS computer, that pulls wu's in like every 48 hours... its truly pathetic.. And its totally ****ing up my stats man, especially when another computers pulls wu's in like >5 hours. Is there a way to reset the acg cpu time or something? I want my stats to show how much of a bad-ass comp I got here crunching.

    3) Anyone use any of those tweak programs? like seti chache, or seti cue... something like that? It downloads like 10 at a time, then sends in 10 at a time.. does anyone find this any faster/slower? better/worse? What are the advantages ? (besides obvious)

    4) You guys think I will ever make top 100 in SETI MURC ?

    5) What does Matrox video cards have to do with cpu crunching or astronomy... (dont answer that)

    Thanks, Zyn

    That's ok

Sounds like SetiSpy to me - this will give you all the stats for each individual crunching PC I think - I've never used it so I don't know...maybe Guru/Sisyfos can help here.

Nope, but you can submit those slow WUs to an alternate account (such as oldoldtimers@hotmail.com) if you don't want those slow times on your main account.

It's not any faster, though there might well be a 0.00001% overhead in doing this - rather negligible though. The main point of caching units is that either (a) if the Seti server goes down for a while you can remain crunching units, or (b) if you are away for a few days you can leave your PC crunching. For tweaking, then check the website.

Well get caching and be sure to read the SETI @ MURC website (see link in my sig) including Guru's optimisation guide.

    You're welcome,

1: If you just wants the time, the nearest I know of is setiqueue's result-log.
Other is setilog for the actual logging, and setiwatch to see the log results.
3: All kinds of caching has the obvious advantages of no stop for download and against server outages.
The not so obvious is that on NT you can run seti@home as service, if you use either SetiQueue or SetiCache. Running as service is some minutes faster than other methods.
4: This week. If nothing unexpected happens, I should pass 100 again next week.
