Damn, You guys knew about me changing my name to 3dchipset. On top of things over here.

I think I need a system wide upgrade...
nothing slower than 900Mhz...
That way I can keep up with some of these monkeys with 50+ computers.

Nobody answered my question from earlier....
How the hell do those crack babies get >3:30 wu times on the average ???

I mean damn.

Is a certain version of SETI CLI faster than some of the others? I am using cli 3.0 across all my platforms. What gives man

Dude, I have read that opt. guide a million times. It's all greek to me.

You get <4 hour times on a p3-700 ?
Or did you say you overclocked that past 1Ghz mark ?

And is CLI 2.4 faster than 3.0?

3.0 is faster then 2.4! I'm curently runing the CPU @ 1015MHz 145MHz FSB CAS 3(need some bether memory) System is tested at 150MHz fsb with my friends mem (and thats with my old G-Orb now using alpha pep66)! If you are going to by a new sys. go with an 750MHz P3 an overclock the it!

EDIT what part of the guide is hard to understand? If you are having problems post here or mail me!

I get sub-3:30 WUs on only 3 of my machines... the 3 quad xeon 700's
with their 2mb of cache they're pretty damn quick

Wouldnt an AMD Tbird do better?
Its got a helluva lot better fpu.
and the fsb is at 200Mhz, with 133Mhz memory.

Wouldnt it be smarter to go with a Tbird?

Who here crates a RAM disk just for SETI to crunch? how much does that actually do?

Well that doesnt help me at all. because its set to 0 and I have no idea what the hell to put it to.

Is there a way to change the CLI to write to the harddisc every 10 minutes or something like that?

P3 is faster becouse it has faster l2 cache!

Used to do it droped my times ~15min! In a normal system it will not lover your times by more than 10min!

How much L2 cache does your CPU have? what CPU are you using?

Amd T-birds Cache is slower?
How so? Amd Thunderbird also has full-speed ondie 256k.

I am currently running

1 celeron full speed 128k cache.

1 p3 katmai 512k half speed

1 p3 cumine full speed 256k

Telling windows your L2 cache size will do nothing. CPU caching is dsone entirely in hardware, so whether windows knows or not will not make any difference.

The P3 Cumine and Celeron Cumine has a 256bit L2 cache bus widht Vers. 64bit on the catmai old celeron and AMD cpu's
