  • using a local server

Hi, is it possible to use one machine to go get the WUs and the other machines to connect to that one machine instead of the setiathome server?

I would like to do that as I have some machines which don't have a conection to the internet but would love to participate.

You can do that by using setiQ! Here is a guide http://www.setiatmurc.f2s.com/articles/guides/setiq.htm ! Please not that setiQ is not yet compatible with seti 3.03! But there is a way around it!

I have modified my HOST file on my machine that is running the SETIQ server to redirect the shserver.ssl.berkeley.edu to another IP of my farm, relaunched SETIQ and issued the SQ LOCAL CONNECT ... and it effectivelly tried to connect to this address.
At this time both shsrever.ssl.berkeley.edu and shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu point to the same ip address 128.32.18.166. But as soon as berkeley will decide to stop the 3.0 server the only thing to do will be to add the following in your windows hosts file :
    x.x.x.x shserver.ssl.berkeley.edu

with x.x.x.x the ip address of the shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu
    new ip is: 128.32.18.166

Thank you, I will check this out.

For the time being, I have configured my little network so that it can access the internet by enabling IP masquarading on the worldly machine. It was surprisingly easy to accomplish this.

      ps: I am using linux.
