Ofcourse, you could also teach your fiancee the importance of that program and tell her to keep it running, or no... (sex?)

LOL... She would just say... I don't let you touch me anyways as it is... go shave or something and then I might be upset by that proclamation.

LOL

If you're running NT, install genome@home as service. If you're running win9x, upgrade to NT5 (win2k)...

I think Genome Voyeur has the ability to hide the client in win9x.

See here:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/rema...ding;mode=flat

I have found that the Genome Stealth program posted there works very well on my two Win9x machines

Hmm, it seems the program is no longer there. I uploaded it here.

Problems alright

My fiancee keeps shutting down G@H because she doesn't know what it does and then doesn't turn it back on when she get off the computer... I have lost about 48H worth of crunching time this week because of being at work and the program getting shut off as soon as I leave...

Looks like I am going to have to stealth G@H on my own computer

Oh well... I am still moving up.. albeit slowly

According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

Tsk tsk tsk Guru, that's an old one

Right click and choose properties on C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CONAGENT.EXE
On the Misc tab in the Termination rectangle you've got a Warn if still active check box; uncheck this and click OK.
Voilá, it shouldn't bother you again.
And yes, that's how I did it. And no, I didn't have to copy conagent.exe to exsotic locations on my hard drive. And no, I didn't have to do any .pif voodoo.

Kim

Edit: Sorry Jord, if it was in the FAQs

When you change the built-in settings on conagent it applies them via an external properties .pif file (the ms-dos shortcut).

It won't work in the same session if you already had G@H running when you applied the new settings.
I'm not sure if it takes a reboot.
But after a reboot it certainly should work.

If it doesn't your sorry excuse for a computer is seriously fuXx0r5ed (I just love that word)

Thanks LS.. but I have the stealth program already... Its just I would rather not have to use it on my own machines...

Oh well... I came to a compromise with Nikki... if she lets me run the program in the background (Regardless of what it does) I would drop the speed back on my processor by 25Mhz so that she could play Heroes 3 again (At 901 its the only program that won't work... it kicks out to the desktop after 5 - 10 minutes)

Oh well... 875 is good enough for me... its starting to turn to summer and its probably for the best (Until my peltier comes in the mail)

I have tried that but all it does is it creates an ms-dos shortcut to conagent.exe!

If you're still looking for a way to hide it, go to this link:
http://arstechnica.infopop.net/OpenT...1&m=8030912261

To make sure it works 100% of the time though, include both of these lines in your batch file
window.exe /hide ghclient
window.exe /hide FILTER (it is case sensitive)

I didn't even bother with the win.ini stuff, I just stuck a shortcut to the batch file in my startup folder immediately after genome.
