In that it keeps a constant "results" file around so the it can pick-up where it left off if you reboot the computer?

Just wondering, because I just rebooted and it had to reconnect and download from Genome...

I think it's a problem in their WU caching system.

I had that too and it seems that upon each reconnect your base file grows and grows ...

I now have one that has 94 (!) positions to filter, but you can always use the "-nonet" option, that'll make it either recalculate finished WUs or simply continues to crunch where you left.

If you're ending a crunching process, it might be worth to wait until has finished one protein sequence (100%), so that it can save it back to file and won't recrunch an "it was almost through" WU.

Well, it's like seti, but it's much longer between the saves...

Genome only saves after done one of the 30 sequences, therefore, like Maggi said, you should if possible wait before killing it.

As for connecting, it will at startup connect if you're not either running -nonet, or you've got no result and got one wu cached. It will at most cache one wu apart from the wu you're crunching.

Lastly, if you're not using -nonet, the genome-client will discard the wu if stopped before the first sequence is done.
