  • Top Genome-crunchers 29. July - 5. August 2001.

1st, There's released a new client, ver. 0.99. If you haven't got it, I recommend upgrading.
    2nd, the table:
The results is from Sun Jul 29 12:09:51 PDT 2001 to Sun Aug 5 12:09:50 PDT 2001.
Total production was 17.617,47 wu and 1.048 genes.
Only 31 of 85 managed to produce anything.

      2nd!
According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

Why would I send my pants to New Jersey?

                I'm back!

Rattledagger, you might want to test the new Genome v0.99 something better, as I have upgraded my CPU (to a P3-750), my memory (2x256Mb PC-133) and coming weekend I will test to OC this CPU to a total of 994MHz (133MHz)

                Question for the group:
How comes that I run a 58aa at 20 minute intervals per sequence, a 59aa at 17 minute intervals and my new 62aa at 16 minute intervals?

                I'm confused.

                Jord.

                  Because you upgraded your CPU

So the speedier my CPU, the faster bigger genomes run? I don't believe it, but okay

It's a little known secret, the faster the CPU the faster the genome
OK I get it, you mean relatively to smaller genomes

Seriously though, it must stem from other activities stealing CPU cycles from Genome.
There is no such thing as bigger genomes being faster than smaller genomes. If there is, I want some.

Hmmm, it will make it even more difficult to overtake you, Jorden, then I've reached 4k in Seti...

As for testing, I'm doing a couple of tests with 0.99, and will probably return 3 results before continuing with seti & think...

As for the speed-difference, I've seen over 10% difference in cpu-times with same aa-length, but different wu. If you've got a very slow 58aa and a very fast 62aa, this can be the reason.
